I had a future on Will Zalatoris to miss cut at the Open. He played round 1, then withdrew due to injury. It was graded as a push. Based on my conversation with my book, they said the player had to play two rounds for the bet to have action.

This is the rule in their book they referred me to. (Rule 3)

No where in the bet slip does it say player must complete two rounds. To me, this should be graded a win.

Is this the correct ruling?

6/ is conditional on the whole tournament so the highlighted part doesnt matter

You bet on him to miss the cut and he did not. A push is definitely fair and correct in this case, but I’d rule this wager as a loss before I’d ever rule it a win.

i don't find it quite as clear-cut as ntnBO but i tend to think "push" is a good outcome for you.

surprised they don't spell it out clearly in their rules.

Well he certainly didn’t make the cut…so I don’t quite understand how this could in any way be ruled a loss. He withdrew after round 1, thus he did not make the cut line. That seems to me a like a missed cut.

This I agree more with. A push can be justified I guess…but the rules state once he tees off round 1, it has action. He did not play day 3, thus he missed the cut to play (as far as I am concerned).

Anyways, In situations like this, the book does reserve the right to rule as they see fit. I guess A push is what to expect anytime the ruling isn’t clear.

If the bet is to "not make the cut" then you have a case.

He clearly did not make the cut. It is also common for players who have no chance day 2 to make cut to w/d. To grade these as push/loss can only mean the outcome is not binary, which most bettors would not agree with.

I didn’t even think of that scenario. I’ve seen golfers self-destruct then WD for sure. It’s hard enough to beat the books with juice…now they can rule on these scenarios unilaterally.

most people i talked to said it should be a "win"...

i definitely think at low $$$$$ bet, just pay you the "win" money

for bigger money, it gets more complex...... but i think "miss" vs. "make", this is obvious a "miss".....was WZ legit injured or bad day 1 (plus moderate injury)? would he have kept playing if he shot 67 on opening day? too lazy to google.
