Astyanax, do you sportsbet for a living? If so then what I'm about to say probably doesn't apply. Perhaps however if you're betting, however in-depth and seriously, as a fun hobby you enjoy in your spare time, you might take into account the actual entertainment value in watching the respective games. I assume premiership football is more exciting than Israeli?

Of course you are totally right, it is much more exciting. I just question the value to be found on games the whole world has access to information about, simples.

beating closing lines on EPL/Champions League games is nigh on impossible. The market is very efficient. Doesn't help when guys like Tony Bloom know Sir Alex's teamsheet before even Mike Phelan does.

Not true of all top leagues in Europe, however.

Bet on Bayern to score both halfs, 1u @ roughly evens.

Wigan to beat Bolton 1u @ roughly 5/4

Bayern to keep a clean sheet 1u @ roughly 6/4.

Total loss roughly 1u

Also I wasn't suggesting that I moved the market with my bet. I was stating that if you were to judge my bet by the closing lines then it was a +ev bet as the line moved in my favour at some point between me placing the bet and K.O.

The underground betting market in Malaysia and Thailand.

Hi guys, im new here and im new to sportsbetting as well and am trying to get an understanding of it.

this is where im having trouble:

lets take an actual soccer match
--------------------------------
win draw lose
2.00 2.90 2.80

there are only 3 possible outcomes which can be noted as being 100%
if 2 complete equal teams would play 100 matches in theory the outcome could be:
33% win
33% draw
33% lose
making up for the 100%

now lets take a look at the quotes
---------------------------------
2.00 100/2.00 = 50%
2.90 100/2.90 = 34.5%
2.80 100/2.80 = 35.7%
------
120.2%

how is it these quotes never are equalized to 100% and how am i to go about using that information that i am now missing so to speak?

lets take another look:

for team a to win the odds are 50%
if they win more the bookmaker will lose

BUT

you could also look it from another angle

team a has to win more than 70.7% (2.90/34.5% +2.80/35.7%) to make a profit

hopefully somebody can help me out on this

oh and...sorry for being noobish on the subject

don't forget commission! Arbers do regularly get 96% and lower but you can't get much on and they close your accounts obv.

Yes but I was just referring to the guys question re the odds not adding up. Betfair take 10% commish iirc. Although that might depend on various things.

Mh, betfair does take 5% of the winnings and they somehow reduce that commission depending on the amount of points you collected...

But it's very tough to get the commission significantly reduced, so for anyone betting smallish or medium amounts it is ~5%.

It's not like giving advice for a poker hand saying 'your best move would be not to play'..I am giving advice from what I know as well contributing tips. Of course we can go HU4rollz on a tipping contest? I will have plenty of backers..

Saying that bookmaker juice on a certain site is too big is not negative, it's reality and in this case was answering someone's Q. Expressing an opinion that something may not be value is what it is, an opinion. Anyway, gl to everyone (too positive for you?).

edit: Not too sure why I even responded, whatever gl.

God I am stupid. Meant to bet on over 2.5 in the Barca Stuttgart but accidentally bet on the unders. Here's hoping I lose the bet I meant to make!

Also have bet on the Olympiakos game under 1.5 goals.
