Hi 2p2.

My name is Kevin and i got myself in a situation with a local bookie. What im am looking for is an official figure for a debt i got myself in. Its somewhat complicated. I want to do the right thing. My reputation is important to me. I dont mind sharing details but i dont know how i would go about getting an "official" number that i cud pay off. How can/shud i go about this?

The other party involved is saying were square and since wont respond to me. I just want to do the right thing. I dont want to be a piece of ****. Several thousand dollars of pending bets he "cancelled" and closed the account. I never agreed to anything being "cancelled" but at the same time i knew he had the right to because i threated to do something somewhat sketchy and even though it was an empty threat, i knew he was within his rights to do what he did.

Please help. I am not a bad person and just want to do the right thing. Thanks. I work as a poker dealer and this is one of the players and if anyone heard i had to have bets cancelled it wud be incredibly shameful to me. If i lose, i pay. I am not a leech. Any help wud be appreciated. Thanks guys.

So you dont see anything wrong with me not paying. When bets were "cancelled" the Rangers/Lightning series was 2-1. If Rangers won he'd have owed me like 1,100 and if Lightning won id have owed 8.2k (its a little more complicated but thats the jist). I also had 1k pending on Mets to win world series at 14:1 and Bills to win superbowl at 8:1.

Obviously for him to call it square, im getting the best of that deal. You dont feel like im doing something sketchy if I didnt pay anything? Assuming Lightning win this series of coarse.

I feel like its important to say my current debt was approx 4.5k (cud be a lil more/less that number is just an approximation off the top of my head rn) with a ton of pendings (maybe 7 tickets, all but 1 were parlays with only this series remaining) coming down to this Rangers/Lighning series.

I understand im probably going to lose all those pendings as Rangers are significant underdogs to win this series and while im not thrilled about having to pay, i want to do the right thing. Problem is i dont entirely know what that is. Also the "sketchy" thing i said might not even be that sketchy, it was a comment made entirely from frustration from losing my ass and i wanted my account shut-off cuz the debt kept increasing but in no way did i ask for pendings to be cancelled. I just don't want to do something that compromises my integrity or makes anyone i know look down on me like a handled myself in a disgraceful way.

I'll do it, but there will be a tax against you for every instance of "cud" or "shud". Or just take the guy's word that it isn't a big deal to call it square.

I would really appreciate it. Are you a respected member of this community?

Look its embarrassing and i was out of conrol at certain points. Ive paid about 18k the past 8 months. After this exchange i told him i just wanted my account closed but pendings must stand otherwise this is guna make me look like a leech and that i dont mind paying but want to me sure he is going to pay if i win, otherwise im getting freerolled and he said something to the effect of 'everything is canceled, we are square.' Haven't heard from him since even after waiting two days and reaching out before they played Game #5 and practically begged for the pendings to stand, even though it wouldnt benefit me financially.

I am actually broke af and have just been paying 1k everytime i get paid and when i tell him "ill pay if i lose" i know he has no doubt that im telling the truth. Ive done nothing but pay for 8 months now.

Another issue im having is wondering about the equity of my bets at the time of them being cancelled. I had definite equity. As a rough guess i prop had 2.5k risked to win 6.5k on this hockey series. My point is idk if that wud the lower the potential debt. Also the Mets, i feel like that bet is worth + equity for me, thus potentially being able to potentially lower the amount I owe this guy.

When he references "text ins" i would bust my account and it was his idea to let me be able to make bets via text and he'd comfirm if the bet was good. Id get stuck and frantically make textins, never more than 2 a day fyi but it would piss him off because it became a nuiccesnse. My bitching about the 6k was reffering to over my last 4 textins that he never confirmed, thus rendering my bet "no action" i would have won all 4 which would have profited me 6k thus lowering the debt. I shudnt have made that comment, i was losing my ass and was so frustrared and kept making things worse on myself.

When i threatened to not honor the 3.2k I had just made in baseball bets the night before (none of those games had started yet) he knew i was just pissed off. He's known me for years and knows ive never welched on anyone. I knew i needed the account shut off and admittedly i handled it the wrong way but to my defense i had asked in the past to have this account shut off, id get no response and so the very next dY

The thing is though, i know the fact that ive been burying myself doesnt count towards what i actually owe this guy. I just need an unbiased party tell me what the socially acceptable thing for me to do in this situation is.

At the end of the day ill rebound from this and the money isnt all that important to me. Before i was betting on credit these past 8 months i was actually up a lot on local bookies in my area. Almost 100k profit. Admittedly i just lost that money gambling elsewhere but im just saying i dont want anyones pity. Its very clear i need to check myself cuz im living like a sick degenerate and i acknowledge that. I just wana do the right things now and as much as i actually want to just move on and pay nothing, i almost feel like im doing something wrong if i do that. Thats why im bringing this issue here. What do i do?

First off lol at official arbitration.

Internet advice:

You've already burned the bridge. If you pay him it may move you up a couple notches, but he'll still think lowly of you and still probably won't want to deal with you any more. He already stated the bets were canceled so don't expect payment and if you ask for it he cud or shud fully lose his ****. If you pay him after the loss, he'll likely(51%? don't know the full story) take you back if you give him money up front for bets going forward.
