UFC President Dana White has confirmed a third bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

White announced on Twitter that the next battle between the two lightweight champions will take place on July 10 at UFC 264 Live in Las Vegas:

In recent weeks, there has been mounting talk that McGregor and Poirier were close to agreeing to a bout.

On March 29, ESPN's Ariel Helwani stated that the fight was "nearing completion."

Both combatants participated in online squabbles when Poirier called out McGregor for failing to fulfil his vow to contribute $500,000 to the Diamond's charity in the lead-up to their fight at UFC 257.

On Sunday, Poirier tweeted that McGregor and his crew "stopped responding" to pleas to make good on the pledge. The Notorious responded yesterday by tweeting (warning: link includes profanity) that the "fight is off" and that he would hunt for a new opponent on July 10.

Poirier and McGregor have split their first two fights. McGregor won the first fight with a first-round TKO at UFC 178 in September 2014, when they contested in the featherweight category.

Poirier avenged himself in the rematch in January, scoring a second-round TKO. The third battle, like the second, will be fought at 155 pounds.

As much as I like hype threads, this belongs in the MMA thread.

If you're going to post "news" you should at least not be as biased as the MSM.

Conor ended up donating $500K just like he promised, only he did it to a DIFFERENT organization instead of Dustins because Dustin's charity wasn't providing details on how the money would be used (the charity Conor donated to does help the same people in the same area that Dustins does).

Also how is this fight not in the mma thread? And why are you posting in sports betting without even including the line, your thoughts on the line, etc. etc. I'm confused.

More interesting question is what line will be just before the event. I guess Dustin bakers can wait.
