Can you get banned from horse wagering? Can you get banned from horse wagering?

I have done all kinds of AP over the years, since I was young. So I'm always on the lookout for +EV situations. But what I really want is longevity and I have started to look at horse racing. My question pertains specifically to the wagering apps that are available in Nevada.

Does anyone know if being backed off or banned from horse wagering is a "thing"? With the mobile apps now it's so easy to track someone that they can easily tell if you are a winning player. But if horse racing is pari-mutuel, then they can't back you off . . . can they? Would love to hear some first hand experiences with this.

If you're doing things like bridge jumping on massive favorites some will ban you since they are required to pay out $2.20 [or $2.10 if harness] and it comes out of the casinos pocket.

Yes I've heard of that strategy and, no, that's not what I'm doing. I can see why doing this would make you undesirable to the casino though.

Any other examples out there?

Years ago when books took their own action it was not uncommon for certain connected individuals to be capped at $20 WPS. Now with pooling it would take minus pools like that mentioned above for anybody to notice.

Exactly this! TS and Ed Derosa talked about it on a Jason Beem podcast on TS last week the Thursday show if care to listen in archives but basically saying if your trying this or pulling this they will "get you" and they will i use to try this angle often until my account was locked way back in the day and had to decide i could keep TS as an out or think it was Youwager back then or take my wagers elsewhere. Horse Racing Thread also for this in Sports Section

good general topic, I've always wondered about casino betting (B&M and/of offshore) and horse racing.

basically 2 questions (which is really only one long question):

are B&M casino (the mirage for instance) in an off-track parimutuel system? and how many of these polls are there?

same with offshore books?

I read a book by an English horse track bookie. lost his business writing one horrible "bridge jumper" (zero chance of success) bet (to numerous customers).... he just seemed to be writing tickets himself. zero parimutuel. but that was a long time ago.

a colleague of mine was part of a profitable syndicate way back when. gamblers thought the small track pool was more efficient (i.e. inside info at track) than the much larger off-shore pool... so they manipulated small pool to change prices on bigger pool.. seems absurd (that people didn't understand size of pools) but highly plausible.... I think he did this in Asia (maybe Hong Kong...... although I'd think both pools would be huge and/or one pool there)

ADD-ON: and a followup is whether the casinos pay heavy money to the track like the track pool and I assume government regulated OTB pools... obvious answer is yes if they are in paramutuel pool

minimum payout and breakage are interesting... I think the tracks moved to worse breakage over time (basically running down, I think)

I see the Hong Kong tracks cited as providing 10%+ of Hong Kong tax revenue... AND, being one of largest charity funders in the world with the "excess funds". what would this mean?

The tracks hold simulcast rights so they use that as leverage to charge fees to the books. In response, NV books formed a consortium to improve their negotiating position. The big 3 are Churchill Downs, NYRA, and Stronarch.

In the past during a negotiating impasse simulcast blackouts have been used to get the books to fall in line.

Hero, thx for the response

I see Hong Kong jockey club went insane when prominent offshore book started offering betting on happy valley and the other UK track... Pretty much answers my question on offshore
