Keep on bottom feeding. Atleast you have the decency to use the same handle.

meh...he put it out there. Just asking a follow up question. If thats "bottom feeding" then um ok lol. I dont believe hes right though. Id love to hear about some sports book that makes pinnys numbers "comical" in comparison though. Unless the point is that no one is on top of NFL these days which I guess makes sense. The rule changes have that much of an effect?

is there some other book that even offers enough buy/sell pts options to even compare?

How about just getting some data and figuring it out.

I have some books I'm contemplating buying

Conquering Risk by Elihu Feustal

Fixed Odds sports betting by Joseph Buchdal

Mathletics by Wayne L Winston

The Signal & the Noise by Nate Silver

I can't make up my mind and, are books on sports betting even worth the time and investment?

it depends on what you're trying to learn. is there a specific sport or topic you want to learn more about? i think king yao's sports betting book is the single best intro book. i've read all the books you've mentioned except nate silvers. they all contain some useful information. conquering risk on how to think about modeling several individual sports. fixed odds sports betting is good for bankroll management. mathletics for basic approaches to sports analytics. you won't read any of them and start winning, though. most of the specific info is out of date so be careful.

I'm sincerely thankful. Thank you Mr.Rodriguez. Thanks to all.
I'll keep all the advice to mind.
I've already decided, having lost hope of a response, to order Feustels book.
I'll order Yo's as well. I'll probably read more after these.

I didn't start out to ask for advice solely for myself.
Everything we post I believe is beneficial for the general but exclusive 2+2 community. Believe me when I say, I don't know how many members 2+2 has, but the majority of sports bettors, poker players, gamblers in general, are not members of this forum.

I'm aware of some people's fears, but I hardly believe my bets of 20 dollars, no matter how successful, Will hardly move betting lines.

I'm fully aware that no book is going to give me any magical formula, and I'm fully aware, I have a long road ahead.

I'm concentrating on soccer for now, European leagues specifically, and I'm thinking of getting into baseball as well, since soccer season in Europe is slowly coming to an end. I don't know nor trust other leagues, like south America, although I could be very easily wrong.

(Well, my internet wagers are on average between 10 and 20 on average. My bets at the casino have been up until 200, but the casino, Twin river, offer worse odds and less games to bet on, I might have to devote my future wagers solely on the internet.)

Good luck in your bets boys.

Yeah, probably!

I think the thing for me is, the fun of studying and learning!

But the old saying is true, ignorance is bliss.

The more I learn, like 95 of sports bettors fail, the more daunting the task at hand looks!

I have a paltry 200 in my account. My betting units range between 10 and 20. If I go broke, at least I'll make the fun last as long as possible!

I so wanted to place a bet on Cincinnati against the New England Revolution. The Revolution have shown such poor form so far.
I couldn't bring myself to commit.
Every none bet like that feels like a lost bet

(I try sticking to home teams for obvious reasons)

When you're deciding on which games to bet, don't you take home field advantage into consideration?

That's pretty good actually, the guys that set the lines probably never thought of that

Lol. I'm going to make one last response to this and then won't bother anymore because I see this isn't going to be of any benefit to me.
I guess I'll have to go it alone.

I realize a lot of you guys are wagering and winning in the thousands and you're out of my league.
But I'm basically a beginner and this thread s all I have to go by for now.
I don't have your sophisticated algorithms or whatever methods you use.

Home teams on average win more games than the visiting teams.
mlb 53.9
NFL 57.3
NBA 60.5
Hockey 55.7
Why would I give up that edge and speculate on the visiting team?
The only way the visiting team would be a favorite would be if they're way better which means they'd have a lousy return.

Anyway, I'm done here.

Ps. Fwiw, of course there are always exceptions and good opportunity . Why I didn't get on Cincinnati is because they just came in the league this year and I know nothing about them.

Saturday March 30 / premier League
Brighton +154
Vs Southampton

This is slated to be a draw probably
But, Southampton only had 3 away wins.

Bet on 10 games with these odds or better, you only have to be right half the time.
Plenty of similar games out there.
Take a plunge, stop being such Nits.

But this is a book recommendation thread and, I'm tired of educating you guy's.

no need to check out buddy. what you said about home teams winning more is backed up by the data and if people disagree "come let us reason together" as they say in the ultimate book about gambling

Thanks Tom. I'll certainly continue to lurk the posts but I'm definitely done with trying to talk reasonably with some of the people here.

I think it's best I simply keep my thoughts to myself from now on.
But thanks again.

This is just too good. Is there anyway to like sticky this exact exchange or something? I mean, to be THIS clueless AND arrogant is borderline astounding.

My dude...I hate to burst your bubble here but you legit know less about sports betting than my girlfriend, who hates gambling. But she has a brain in her head and just through osmosis she knows that what you just said about "home teams offering value cuz duhhh" is beyond laughable. I mean honestly....its beyond laughably stupid. Which would be ok! Youre new and learning. But then to say youre done EDUCATING US is like the funniest godamn thing Ive seen in 8 or 9 years. Maybe my whole life.

Hey I have another idea for you...did you know that some teams are like way better than other teams? Why not just bet on the really good team? Theyll obviously win more often than not. Why pass up an edge like that??

Hahar, you're really funny.
Of course, you realize all that jibberish of mine about education was just a sarcastic response to posts like yours, right?
You do realize that their are always exceptions to the rules right?
You do realize that the home team and the better team are sometimes the same team don't you?

If always blindly picking the better team was so easy, we'd all be multi millionaires.
This Saturday, Bayern Munich played against Freiburg. I think the line for a Munich win must have been something like -1000
You'd have to bet 100 on Munich to win a dollar. The game ended 1-1.

I think you better start listening to your gf more, no sarcasm intended.

They were around -500 and your math is wrong on your estimation of how much you would have won betting 100 on -1000 which is pretty funny given the whole context of exchanges on here.

If you want to get better at sports betting I suggest reading the books written by Joseph Buchdahl. If those don't put you off and your still wanting to make an a decent income from sports betting.
Maybe build a decent sample size of your bets and then look for like minded people if your able to make money after a year or two.

I couldn't exactly remember the odds so I took a guess. I think I made my point tho ( I didn't wager that game).

Sincere thank you for the advice.
