Re: betstars stiffing there customers

what do their TOS / T&C say about such a scenario?

either way, its probably a small enough amount where they could take the hit and pay out for both horses (not remove winnings from the bettors whose horse eventually was deemed to have come 2nd) - however they might not want to set a precedent for this in case of this event occurring where a ton more funds were on the line

Paddys is quite happy to pay out both sides for some of these - including paying out early and then getting it wrong. But that is part of their marketing budget as they know its great exposure

my guess is that Stars' TOS / T&C have addressed this exact scenario somewhere

the judge called the wrong result, but the horse actually won the race so basically they are saying it's punters fault that the judge calls the wrong horse the winner/loser and you have to take into account that the wrong result will be called every now and then

Can you clue us in on your punctuation strategy? Is it something like "I haven't used a period over the last span of 50 or so words, time to use one!".

I'm genuinely curious.

from experience, I know that once something is considered in "final" state, that that is how the bets/games are paid out. certainly also true for things like DFS & fantasy sports (NFL, NBA, EPL, etc), once the game goes official/final then that is how the scores are confirmed and then paid out

if it was not finalised by whoever provides them their horse racing results, then you might have a better chance of getting paid out

it will should all be listed in their TOS / T&C anyway

again, it would be nice if they paid both sides, but they are most likely not likely on the hook for this. if you get no where, you can always complain to their regulator, but their regulator might have the same response

all other sports betting companies have paid, that's why its even more frustrating they wrote back with the email saying 'we don't do goodwill gestures' but it's not goodwill when you back something to win, wins and then you don't get paid out lol

Re: betstars stiffing there customers

They aren't stiffing anybody. The race result is final for betting purposes when the jockeys weigh in ie about 10 minutes after the race. This happened days later.

Some books have paid out on this horse as a concession/good will gesture. Betstars might if they think it will get them some PR - Paddy Power always do these concessions because they get a mention on the racing tv channels and press.

So ok badger them to pay out by saying the other books are, but don't say they are stiffing you, as that just isn't true.

i get your point 100% but it just looks so so bad, that you backed the winner and somehow end up losing, just like throwing over a winning poker hand and a losing hand scooping in your pot.

Should they pay out on soccer games where the referee wrongly called a penalty in the last minute? Or if he strikes a goal due to it touching a hand, even if it didn't?

As I understand the original post, this is clearly a different scenario. That would just be a bad call by a referee in game; obviously it stands and keep playing and whoever has more goals when time runs out wins the game. If you want to make a soccer analogy to this situation, I think it would be more like:

Team A: 2
Team B: 1

Time runs out.

Referee: Team B wins

Soccer Authority (a few days later): We apologize. The referee was wrong. 2 is more than 1. So, actually, Team A wins and that is how we are recording the result.

EDIT:

As pmarrsouth said above, I am sure you need to check BetStars TOS and/or T&C regarding what happens if a winner is incorrectly announced/recorded and then it is fixed later (in this case a few days later).

I'm guessing it seems like them and most other sportsbooks seem to have TOS and/or T&C such that in this particular case it is the horse that was incorrectly announced/recorded as the winner who gets paid out. But it seems most other sportsbooks, as a good will gesture, also pay out the horse that actually won.

Yea I'm just devil's advocating for thought food

What about people betting on the Olympics and the winner then being banned for doping a month later and the placings re-arranged?

the result was actually changed tho, in a soccer matches the results do not get changed, after the 90 minutes, the new result is live and oregon gift the horse in question has now been confirmed the winner

also may i add the funny thing is there liablity is going to be minimal as this was a low grade race with i doubt very much money put on it, hope they don't take the bad pr on this 1 and have many close there accounts. who wants to bet with a bookmaker who doesn't honour clear mistakes like this? every major other betting site has payed out!

Re: betstars stiffing there customers

Well as other wrote what is the TOS of the site about this matter. All sites settled bets immediately after the event is finished with that result and that is the final settlement according to the TOS of most sites. After some hours or days if the official result is changed it depends on the site good will to resettle it and pay to all winners because that is the TOS of the site. Write to the regulation operator of your country and that is all you can make. As you know StarsBet paid all the winning bets as of final result after the event, so there is not a steal of money. In some cases like this if you are VIP player aka losing to much according to you betting units, when you write to the site they can manually settled it as you wish, just to not upset you.

There were some formula 1 disqualifications after some hours or days and it was a mess and some disqualifications for nation team from America where some player were not filled write so after some days FIFA or similar organisation declared 3:0, but the event stayed settled as the final score after he finished.
