Looking at the Portland Denver series. I have two options:

1. either bet Portland series +300
2. Or bet Portland to win game 6 (-175) and then carry that over to game 7 and bet Portland again (Which I’m expecting to be similar to game 5, +165). This is a indirect way of betting Portland to win the series.

Strategically which is better?

If I bet $100 on option 1, I win $300. Final balance $400

If I bet $100 on option 2, I win $57 on game 6 and then bet the $157 on game 7 and win $259. Final balance $416.

Is my math correct? Is option 2 the better strategy? Am I missing anything?

In a spot like this rolling it over for 2 games is pretty much always more profitable than taking the series odds

Thanks.

Is there any reason I would consider option 1?

Is there a risk with option 2 that I’m missing?

Not really. Youre doing right.

Only drawback I can think of is a star from Denver getting hurt/suspended and the price on Portland getting way worse for game 7. Thats not a realistic reason for not betting it that way though.

Yea yea like that guy said...this option is almost always better than series bets. Its fun with NFL teams in the playoffs. Instead of betting them to win the SB, do this kind of ML parlay for every playoff game. Your return ends up being much better.
