I just want to chime in and say that I know Dan IRL and advised him to post his story here (actually on the HSNL board where I mostly post) because I thought it would be of serious concern to many 2p2ers.

Dan frequents the same mid-stakes live games I play in Milwaukee. He's a young guy who treats people with respect and has shown a lot of integrity at the table--he's not an angle-shooter or anything of the sort there. So he's just an acquaintance of mine, but I personally believe his story.

I'm a casual sports bettor and have never played at 5dimes, but like many of you I had heard that they have a decent reputation. I was shocked to hear of both their business practices and their interpersonal communication (threats of personal harm, for god's sake?) in this matter. I will never place a bet there, obviously.

In my opinion, if a site posts odds in error, the absolute latest that they should be able to cancel the action is before the event goes off. It doesn't matter to me whether Dan called them at any point to check on the accuracy of the line--they accepted his action and obviously would've kept his money if he lost. Furthermore, the result of this one bet should have absolutely no bearing on the subsequent bets he made; how can any smart gambler disagree on this? 5dimes.com has cheated this customer out of over $40,000!

i mean obviously the threats are something that needs to be addressed, and i *personally* think that (depending on his betting history there) he's being screwed, but i guess i understand 5d's opinion enough to not care either way.

he can be a nice guy and have integrity when he's playing poker with people that are sitting a foot away from him, but he knew what he was doing when he clicked 'submit bet' on a wager whose odds were orders of magnitude off.

what happened after is another discussion, but to come here saying that books should only be able to cancel a bet beforehand and/or defending dan's reputation after his original streak-starting bet is kinda like me commenting on 100/200 omaha hands.

Totally agree, and most guys with integrity would still be labeled a shot-taker for betting on a wager that is supposed to pay +7000 (70-1), but is listed erroneously +700000 (7000-1). His .58 cent wager which should of paid him $39.90 instead paid him $3990.00.

Maybe putting only .58 cents on this helped keep it under the radar (from Tony at least) as opposed to betting at least $5.00 where the payout of $35k maybe would of got Tony's attention. $50.00 to win $350k would of definitely of got Tony's attention for sure.

My cliffs:

-Guy gets 30k stolen and life threatened multiple times.
-He has story that checks out. (30 .57 bets on a six way pleaser is clearly ineffective shot taking. It seems probable he would have re-deposited anyway based on account history and would have won anyway.)
-Guy gets blasted for his typing skills, abused by a mod, informed he was lucky to get anything, and told to relapse via shooting up.

Thanks I appreciate the support. I would say 98% of the followers of this thread r supportive and see things in the way I do or at least feel 5d is wrong. The other 2% who think I took a shot just get a lot of attention because the ridiculous analogies, ignorance and or their inability to see this case clearly after all the facts have been laid out. As for half of that 2% I figure they are probably planted by 5d so their opinion is bias and therefore holds no weight here.

You should quit while you are ahead imo. Every time you post, your case gets worse.
