haha, true very true.

i've become a fairly involved coin-collector in my older age, alas i'm still only a teacher and thus do not always have the funds to buy everything i want. so getting a couple $25 boxes of pennies from my bank and sorting them when i'm bored gives me that feeling of adding to the copper hoard.

http://www.coinflation.com/

http://www.realcent.org/

there's still a melt ban on them, but canada just recently decided to discontinue their penny, so once the zinc lobby is pacified, so will we and then i'll get a 250% return on my coppers...

it's just basically like putting together a puzzle or zoning out playing videogames.

yes, it's different. but it don't bother nobody and sometimes i'll give the (no vig) amazon card i get from the coinstar machine to my wife, so she's cool with it too.

seems brianl is a fan of round numbers, as he posted +8.1 when it's really +8.09.

i'm not gonna bother him as it probably won't make a difference, but for poogs and chronic i'm keeping track to the hundredths place.

What's the deal in Total Base's prop betting for MLB if a player doesn't play in the game. push or if the person who does play has a base would that be a win?

do you also have a clause limiting wipers use of pills/alcohol? might want to add random wiper drug tests if he is the official scorekeeper or at least the option to no action the wager at any time depending upon wipers chemical state. we just need a separate set of unbiased judges to rule on it.

You'd be the perfect person to test drugs on.

Or is that not what a drug test is in the land of the free? #trollolol.

newb question apologies in advance

suppose you devise a model and youve picked out the best stats and weighed them perfectly. you backtest over the past 5 years and you are a huge winner. i'd feel pretty damn good about myself going forward and betting using this model. but for what reason should i expect that this model will still hold true for future games?

If you're a huge winner with perfect data then I'd still Kelly bet. I seem to remember even if betting a fixed horse race or boxing match you still.....Kelly bet.

Predict lines for upcoming events. If the market agrees with you (lines move towards your prediction) a good deal of the time (80%+) then start betting.

poogs and chronic, we're probably gonna have to have a convo about how your bet is gonna work going forward.

i've been gone all day and was only posting in a werewolf game and am now seeing brianl's thread is locked and he is/isn't banned.

i used his twitter timestamp on the arizona play that he didn't/couldn't post here, but you two need to work out how you're going forward.

i gotta grade the best bet thread from the last two days (#lolwork) but i'm caught up on brian's picks. i have a lolgoogledoc going, but wanna figure out how to publish it w/o letting anyone else edit it, then i can send you both that addy.

am definitely interested in this whole drama, but haven't read through his thread yet (to be honest, i'm saving it hahaha) and when the SE werewolf game opens back up i'm gonna wanna focus on that, but i'm definitely up to date with his picks and will post his exact numbers after the arizona game here tonight.

Who is he on? Zona or Friars? I really hope I faded his play here. He seemed really emotional when he made it. Yet he is hot. Damn. Quite the dilemma. As long as he beat the heritage line, we might all bw safe.

also to comment on the #241/242 posts in that thread that's now closed: **** no that isn't me. kinda weird because i did say something about sorting pennies, and it links to a site i linked to recently, but i'm like, 6'2" 250lbs with a bald head and a varying length, barber-lined beard.

Why do all the good threads get locked before I ever get to respond.

GS85- Come to NY for the forthcoming rematch of the '94 SC finals. We can bowl and drink til we pass out.

Bob- Another one that can dish it out but can't take it. My condolences.

BrianL- if you end up costing Poogs some $$, I owe you some drinks as well.

Iowa- You did it! pm me and let me know what you want to do about everything since we don't talk no mo.

Poogs and others, Brian twice asked me politely to close it. So I decided to help him out in that way. I'm not always keen on closing a thread just because the guy who started it eventually wanted it closed or got embarrassed or whatever. But in this case it felt appropriate if he truly didn't want it left open.

Is there a problem with closing it somehow? Or just your preference that it remain open?
