I normally login to DK from my laptop. I'd say about 1 out of 4 times I try to login I get a message that they're unable to locate me and I can't use the sportsbook. Whenever this happens I've restarted my laptop and then it works.
A few days ago my internet was down so I used my phone as a hotspot and tried to login but got the unable to locate message. I restarted my laptop, but got the same message, and then my account got locked. Then they emailed me and accused me of masking my location and/or account sharing and demanded I send a pic of my ID next to my face, reset my password, and acknowledge all their policies (which I've been following perfectly all along). They also threatened to close my account permanently if I committed this alleged heinous crime again.
I don't mind sending an ID. What I don't understand is how can I possibly continue using DK if whatever geolocation technology they use is so inept? It would be inevitable that my account would get locked again despite the fact that I've never tried to login from anywhere other than my apartment in chicago and most definitely have never given anyone else my login credentials.
Has anyone else had this problem on DK or any other US regulated books?
Does the geolocation work more reliably if you use the mobile app? I prefer to use the website from my laptop but if that's the only way to not get banned then I guess I'd be willing to use the app.
