Not really, units provide an easy way to show the relative strength of bets.

If you do 1000 units per bet and are up 20k, that's fine. Anyone who doesn't ignore you will be able to see you're up 20 bets.

Spadewar actually has a point. When I saw Iowa's bet of 20 units I was a bit confused. I wanted to say something but I decided asking would be inappropriate. I know it has something to do with Kelly system but wasn't sure how it fit in. 20 units seems high to me, but he obviously knows what he's doing.

I don't think SpadeWar meant it in a way to pry about anyone's financial situation, I think he just had the same question I did. Either way, we should keep arguments out of the thread.
