Hello all,

You may remember the past few years when we held the NFL pick'em challenge. If you are new here are the rules:

You must make 4 wagers each week for different amounts, $400, $300, $200, $100 are the amounts you must wager, no more no less. Your weekly results will be totaled as the season progresses and at seasons end the person who has made the most money will be declared the winner.

What do i get if I win?
--You get the respect of your peers and $0 of cold hard cash. Maybe we can negotiate a custom title for you from the mods. The winner will be the team with the most earned cash after week 17. The last place participant will be mocked for an entire year.

Can I get some real action in this contest?
--There hasn't been much interest in the past for this, if someone other than me wanted to set it up, be my guest. The game is supposed to be free and fun, there is plenty of other action around in these forums.

Do I have to pick every week?
--No, but it is encouraged, you wont be penalized for forgetting to make picks. You can join at any time, take a couple weeks off if you want, and rejoin the action any time you please.

Do the Lines ever move?
--No, I will try to post the lines on Wednesday, and those will be the official and final lines. You can pick early in the week, or wait until Sunday if you choose. You can make your picks and then change them later in the week, just quote your original post and make the changes. Your last post in the thread will be your picks.

How can I format my picks to make life easy on you LoO?
--Glad you asked, use the codes that are listed for each bet. When you reply to this post, list your 4 wagers in decending monetary value, but make sure to include the codes , if you dont I have to go searching for them and I will grow tired. 100's are for point spreads and 200's are for Over/Unders. For example

The most efficient (and most boring) method would be a post like:

In that format, the 102 code would be the $400 pick and so on down.

If you want to include the team names, and/or lines so that everyone can see how smart you are, you can. Remember, the picks are listed as the $400 first down to the $100 last:

209 Bucs/Jets OVER 39.5
228 Giants/Cowboys UNDER 48.5

My system of collection requires me mindlessly typing codes into an excel sheet. So that is what is most important. Again, please dont forget the codes as I will grow weary of having to search for them. If you want to include the team name next to the code, please feel free, this will ensure that I can correct your pick at a later date incase you mistype a code number. But for my first sweep through the thread, I will just be looking at the codes.

All picks have to be in by kickoff, so 1pm sunday for sunday afternoon games etc. If you list less than 4 picks, the first will be worth $400, the second $300 etc. So if you totally forget to play Sunday you can still bet the line on the Monday game (or both Monday games) and the over/under.

You can bet the Thursday game separately, then finish your picks for Sunday after the game ends. When you finish your picks, just try to quote your earlier pick in the thread, and fill in the rest.

So here we go, week 1 lines!! Again, the 100 codes are for the point spread and the 200 codes are for the over/unders. (Odd numbers are Away teams and OVERS, Even numbers are Home teams and UNDERS) Pretty-self explanatory, use the example from above to match the lines from this week. Make sure you have the codes correct, thats all I will look at, post if you have a question.

Quick question though.

Has that always been a rule? I thought it was a must that you have to make 4 wagers each week. So if you forget Sunday during day time you could still do game + over/under on BOTH Sunday and Monday night games to get in 4. If can pick less and just have $400 and maybe $300 play each week, this is added advantage / strategy and don't recall anyone ever using it.

Correct. In all previous years you could bet as many games (to 4) as you wanted to each week. You didn't have to bet any on some weeks if you didn't want to. You could only bet Monday, etc.

By the way, I plan on making it three titles in four years!

Thanks guys. Looks like the rules changed in 2009. The original rules (2004 copy, 2007 copy etc. all have it but these have evolved in time. No guts no glory was a 2005 & 2006 rule too (can't win if don't pick in the final weeks, all other weeks can take off) but was dropped too. That one I noticed, I guess I'm 5-years behind on rule changes though . Time to study up lol
