OP,

You want to bet the flop here. Checking makes no sense whatsoever.

As played, you will want to felt it. If villain is capable of slowplaying a straight, then he is also capable of slowplaying a set and two pair that include an ace are very very likely.

You might lose this hand, for sure. But that's ok. What you want to do is analyse the situation and put villain on a handrange and do your betting accordingly. If villain showed up with an underset then you would feel very silly. And I say this to show that one should not be results oriented. What one should be is play oriented, without knowing the results but only having the information that lead up to the individual decisions.

The only thing is, isn't villian betting turn with set/two pair almost all the time? There is a three straight on the board, hero's range definitely includes a random jack right? especially if he's checking behind on the flop. If he has a set he's going for the second check raise after the first one missed? that seems unlikely....

talk about results-oriented idiocy. the results don't matter whatsoever in this hand. you, sir, are a fool if you actually believe what you're posting.

the op shows that neither of these statements is the case. and even if the op was some kind of weird aberration, your win rate shows that neither is the case.

When I saw that flop and the way he checked I just thought to myself, "Wow, KK is just no good here."

Call it a sixth sense, seeing or reading into his soul, what have you, it's just a God given gift, I guess.
have you been watching phil hellmuth? you belong on the p5s forums, or cardplayer or something. your bs will be received better there.

It's not just that he checked. No, no, no. It's the way he checked.

Just any old check coulda been AJo or 55, but not this check. No way, no how.

i assume op is alluding to a timing tell, that's all i can think of. this is online poker, there are no physical reads to be had.

either way, clearly op has screws loose.

I know this is against the spirit of this thread and everything, but I don't mind this hand so much. Obviously it's not standard, but I would sometime check this flop for pot control/to let villain take the lead on the turn.

Turn card obviously sucks, but I'd have probably bet it because the board is drawy, overcards are a big part of your range, and there's a decent chance YHIG.

I think you have to shove the river, but it's not hugely +ev to do so unless villains a big paystation. Basically, the river CR will be a bluff a very large percentage of the time and a slowplayed monster in nearly all other instances. Two pair type hands all make very little sense. Anyway, out of slowplayed monster hands sets are much less likely than JT, especially after the flop is checked through, because hero obviously is not sitting on a set/two pair and as such villain has nothing to fear with JT. Sets, OTOH, have all sorts of cards to sweat (small straights as well). Anyway, that doesn't mean he couldn't have a set and have been going for another CR on the turn when the ace falls.

So yeah, don't do this all the time (or often at all), bet turn and shove river.

Apart from that, though, the OP is far less embarrassing (talk of 'pristine reads' and 'handling situations better than any other SSNL player' notwithstanding) than most of the replies that scoff at the notion of not playing like a robot and occasionally experimenting with a different line.
08-13-2007 , 07:08 PM
grunching.

So, you breakeven/lose because you get coolered huh?

The fact that you just call the river with the nuts too often wouldn't have anything to do with your winrate?

O RLY?

You do know that you sucked out on 77, 88, 99, 98, 97 and 87 right?

Lol.

thanks for articulating clearly why exactly you just dont get poker. also, are you really the prepubescent boy in your avatar/ why do you keep playing when you are a loser lifetime at 1/2?

Wow, this is awful. How can you brag about saving 150$? If your goal in poker is to save money, don't play at all. And the thought of folding that river shows exactly why you have such downswings. Putting everyone on the nuts is not a "sixth sense"
It wasn't about saving money in this case; just the fact that I read so ridiculously well that I'm able to save money in spots where mere mortals cannot.
