The flop checkraise is a wee bit unsubtle (and probably costs him money in the long run), but your response to it was silly, given that you correctly assumed you would be facing a turn shove. Therefore, you're basically playing for stacks as soon as he checkraises the flop.
Now we ask, what could he have that I beat? AA, KK...but would he check those hands on the flop? J10...possibly a semibluff but he would have had to have raised with it preflop and then pulled a fancy play rather than just c-betting as a semibluff--not within this guy's aegis. There is pretty much no other hand with which his actions make sense other than 99 or QQ.
Therefore, you should have either shoved on the flop (not good), repopped him to 75-80 (only viable if you can let it go if he shoves now or on the turn), or better still, mucked your bottom set. It only hurts for a little while.
Your basic mistake was not honoring your read of this guy. Fish puts all dem chips in=fish has a monster. Period.
as the posts below yours say, they think I should have played it out. But from my perspective...the very strange immediate check...VERY fast check...then big way out of the ordinary raise to my $2 bet (lolz) just seemed like a maniacal fish way of betting top set.
The quick check was his way of showing weakness cause he got very excited he hit top set there. Why would he quickly check AA or KK ? It was very out of place and my read was correct.
