It reminds how once I made up a new 2p2 name just to insult someone and I spent tons of time on a post I never posted (it was against Nirwanda lol) and I showed terp and he said "you really need a hobby." My reply was that this is my hobby. :-)

I think you may find "the Crash Reel" to be a personal expirence as far as films are concerned. Its about Kevin Pearce after he endured a life altering traumatic brain injury on a 30 foot halfpipe. He could be the coolest guy alive, no joke. He lost his ability to snowboard at an elite level(ie crush shaun white)but his story is beyond inspiring. Hope you enjoy it as much as I. GL.

I'm in a difficult spot because I want to stay on his good side, but at the same time I no longer feel like I have any privacy whatsoever.

I think I'm just going to end up moving. Sucks because I really like the area.

Thoughts?
Do you still have a copy of the lease you signed? When I was renting the original lease read something like the landlord could enter the apartment 'with reasonable advanced notice' or 'in an emergency situation'. That's paraphrasing to the best of my ability but I remember asking Terp about the wording because it felt intentionally vague. IIRC Terp suggested just talking to landlord about it and while we didn't amend the lease (because I was dumb) the landlord told me he'd never come over without calling the day before first, and an emergency would be akin to a water line breaking. Honestly, I should have probably had the contract amended to reflect that statement but I was lazy.

I'm not sure what bylaws exist in respect to renters where you live, but entering your place of residence willy nilly seems pretty insane to me. Are you able to place cameras inside? We've got most of our house covered in what started as a fun project to watch the dogs while we were gone during the day. Now they upload video to a remote server and it cost less than $200 in hardware/$10 month hosting and little technical knowledge. Might be enough to discourage your landlord from entering and/or give you peace of mind if/when he does.

My state has a 24/h notice law. I've even heard that if language to the contrary exists in your lease, I can still take him to court and win. I'll have to take a look at my lease though.

Could probably rig some cameras up to a remote server with the hardware i already have.

Could be fun.

Maybe i'll post results

Just curious, what's your most desirable end result here by taking him to court? Or are you going to force a settlement or something?
10-13-2015 , 12:51 AM
It won't actually get that far. I was just making the point that regardless of what it says in the lease, the state law supersedes (from what I understand anyway).

Ex gf just messaged me to tell me that she's pregnant (not mine).

Not even sure how to process it.

We just broke up in July after having dated for 4 years.

Heh the big stuff of the PGA Your is over but I love golf so I'm watching a random tournament (Frys.com Open) where I don't recognize anyone's name... But wait there's one. Justin Rose is in 3rd place. You're right, he is just always there.

yes I grew the beard back, lol. And yes Malefiicus i get to hide my bald head for a while. :-)

I dunno why but the lady who came out to put it on had to put it over my face for a while but she did.

and this thingy is in this bag that i have to walk around with for the next 10 days, even if i golf or go on a walk or whatever. I also can't shower except for the 3 times she comes by to remove it for a bit.

there's a video camera that is recording me for all this time to watch if something happens with my brain. talk about no privacy!

Ok i'll let you guys know if anything gets discovered through this machine. TY again.

Also a few days ago on October 26 was exactly one year since my accident so if you didn't see it some people might care about how my year went, what happened, and what's about to happen: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...8&postcount=41

I have to write down everything I do and tell my doctor if they find anything. Guess I can't watch porno for 10 days lol.

Last edited by Keyser.; 10-29-2015 at 08:54 PM. Reason: Wait it all could be caused by porno so I guess I'll do it anyway to find out :-)

It came to a head when he demanded to "check on the thermostat" a couple weeks ago.

I said listen, there's nothing wrong with the thermostat, I set the heat myself and it works, and I have someone coming over. Can we do this some other time?

He said no, I need to see it with my own eyes.

I said you're going to make things really awkward for me and my friend.

He then said I've been "The most difficult tenant he's ever rented to" even though we've never had any issues that I know of in the past. I thought maybe he was talking about something my ex gf did when I wasn't home or something? No idea. Anyway, I relented to his bullying because I'm a giant pussy and said fine i'll be home in 15 minutes.

I get home and let him in. As he's checking the thermostat I ask him what this is really about, since the thermostat is obviously working fine.

He insisted he just came to check the thermostat, but about 30 seconds later went into a tirade about how he once came in and found that my dog had pooped on the carpet, and how i'm irresponsible and don't respect him, and if I "had half a brain" I'd leave my dog locked in the kitchen which is laminate flooring.

Unless he's been coming in very often and picking up dog poop that i'm unaware of, this hasn't been an ongoing issue, and the carpet is not damaged at all.

The next day he sent me a very long condescending email about how I should be taking care of my dog, and insisting that I get the carpet cleaned at my expense.

I sent him an email back with the part of my lease that talks about landlord entry (explicitly listed as 24 hours notice) highlighted, and that entering my property without notice is a breach of contract, and I also let him know that I will be getting the carpets cleaned, and I hope he'll respect my privacy.

The day after that he called me on the phone because he wanted me to write out a bullet pointed document detailing how i'm going to fix the problem, and in a very condescending tone told me that he'll give me notice if he needs to access my space.

I told him i'd print the email i sent to him and sign it.

I'm giving him 30 days notice at the end of this month since I have a month to month lease. I no longer feel comfortable there and feel like a prisoner in my own home. Dude has now started to hang outside my house to clean up the yard (I live on the top floor of a converted house), but personally I feel like it's a weird passive aggressive thing.

Its' too bad since I like the area, but it's not worth giving up my privacy.
10-30-2015 , 06:53 PM
Wow that's terrible and awkward. I can imagine that happening even if you've been a perfect tenant. I kinda hate people, so many jerks and aholes out there. He's probably got some personal problem he takes out on you.
11-01-2015 , 08:53 PM
There's things I hate about owning a house, but there's things I love. Like not having to deal with idiotic landlords and maintenance people.

All in all, that sucks. Plus the bit about the ex. Why on earth would she text you that she's pregnant if it's not yours? Do you see each other in social circles? And are you sure it's not yours?

Changing gears a bit, I think I mentioned a while back that I was going to the northeast with my girlfriend. I proposed and she said yes, which is wonderful. We got her ring together a couple of weeks ago, and just went to look at the likely venue today. It's a really nice mansion turned into boutique B&B and renting it out for the wedding is really reasonable (it's like 3.5k and that includes getting all 10 rooms for the night, and the rooms together would cost about that). So I think we'll be doing that, though we need to talk to the planner about dinner and booze options.

If you haven't been to the northeast in the fall, I recommend it. We did Boston, Portsmouth (NH), and Burlington and it was great. Some great breweries in Vermont we got to drink from.

I don't know if we've ever talked about baseball here. That World Series was pretty awesome. I'm not a big fan but I played a lot as a kid and I happen to be in Missouri so I'm a bandwagon fan who was rooting for the Royals. They did very poor for a lot of years but in 2011 a writer predicted they would win it all in 2015. And it actually happened: http://www.si.com/vault/2011/03/21/1...4/royals-flush.

Plus the go-ahead run tonight was scored by someone who once said "that's what speed do" when talking to reporters about baseball. Awesome.

I'm going to immediately start saving to buy a house. Ideally I don't want to stay in Illinois, but I'm okay with it since all of my family and most of my friends are here.

Ex and I don't even talk anymore, and I have her blocked on FB. Positive it's not mine as the timeline doesn't match up.
11-02-2015 , 12:07 PM
Far more awkward for her than you
11-02-2015 , 04:48 PM
Gave my notice to landlord yesterday in with the rent check, and now he wants me to call him to have a "chat"

He sounded pretty depressed, probably because he's going to have a hard time finding a renter in December.

Will update with what he has to say.
11-03-2015 , 10:52 AM
He said he was a little confused as to why I'm leaving.

I told him i'm no longer comfortable there.

There was an awkward pause, and then he sounded hurt/upset.

****ing weirdo.
11-03-2015 , 02:20 PM
lol you win at least. Moron learns if he creepily spies on people and enters their home non-stop, they leave and he's got to resell it.
