Same except with a lot more self loathing during the losing.

(kind of) on this topic, one of the things I struggle most with online is not knowing whether I'm playing well/profitably. For me to play 100k hands is ~200 hours which is probably ~2 months. I've played/play a ton of live where I find it heaps easy to identify the edge I have in a game (and I have played in games I didn't think I had an edge in). I find it pretty gross that I could be playing in games online that I'm a slight loser in and not realise it.

added: this especially applies to my experience playing mid/high MTTs this year having played ~400 mtts with an ABI of ~$100 and losing ~7k

Your edge in the average live game is going to be several times bigger than it is in the average online game at comparable stakes obv

Best part of WSOP on ESPN tonight might've been the UB commercial:

I folded KK pre-flop in a live game last night - I feel so dirty today.

UTG limps, I 5x from UTG+1, he limp 3bets's to 18x, I 4b to 60x, he 5b's to 150x - we started 240bbs effective...
09-29-2010 , 05:47 AM
I'd probably 6bet kick him in the balls

if he isnt some maniac drooler i would just flat the lrr
09-29-2010 , 09:43 AM
Why are you 4betting him? Fold as played though.
09-29-2010 , 12:12 PM
Yeah 4-bet folding is terrible Ashley WTF r u doing? Just flat the LRR and play poker if you're going to fold to a 5-bet.
09-29-2010 , 12:16 PM
Yeah I know

He later on called a 16x 3b oop w 88 and then check-called 3 streets on Ks8d4cQd9c worried that I had a bigger set, so pretty certain that it was the correct fold nonetheless

some funny hands from the last week in london:

did 3 tournaments in the end, 300, 200 and £1k events, 300 one was boring, not much happened, in the 200 one, me and my friend decided to get drunk, spew and either built a stack or bust early.

the first hand i did some kinda bad turn/river 2barrl which got called by the guy who is involved in the next couple of hands.
2 hands later i raise A3dd in EP, 2 callers, flop KdJdTx, i bet, 1 caller, guy form hand before raises to 1100, (7.5k starting stack) i snap jam and he thinks for abit and folds. i take down the next couple of pots pre, tyhen raise KK utg to 150, 1 caller, guy 3bets to 400, 1 overcaller, i make it like 1250, he flats, as does other guy. FLop QJ2r i bet, he calls other guy folds, turn 2, i jam, he snaps with 72o. funny how tilted he was just caus id played 5/6 hands so far lol, i go down to 1k, run it up to 16k and bust in a boring way.

the 1k event i did some spew in the first level and was out after about 1.5hrs.

cash wise i played 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5, ran awful in all.

one night we go to the card room at about 11pm and get sat at a 1/3 game with 2 of my friends and 1 live grinder (who was ok and probs crushes live), toughest live game ever lol. ppl join, including this american to my left, immediatly he starts raising every hand pre and being a huge station post flop.

some of his most memorable quotes are flatting a cbet with 84o on a AJ6 board and saying "ive got a runner runner, i call" and proceding to call a shove on a 4 turn, river is another 4, busting my friends Ax.

he put some absurd beats down, including my friend getting in 200bbs good (was 1/3 game btw, which played like a 5/10 game) with 66 on TT5 vs his AJ and losing. getting in 6422 on a A73 board vs some guys top 2 in omaha.

i had a redic hold vs him where (he hated the £1 chips btw, and would always raise any of those chips he had in front of him) someone straddles £6 and utg limps, i overlimp with black TT b/c he has about £22 in £1 chips, he raises those, 4 callers, i limp reraise to £182 or something, he calls pretty quick, others fold. flop comes Qx8d7d, i jam for about 500, he calls pretty quick, turn Kd, river Jd. i say "urgh" and flip the black tens, he mucks loooool. he said that he had 96o.

towards the end of the session i realised he just didnt fold pre and was doing some stupid raises. heres one of the most redic hands ive ever played:

i have about 2k, he has 1.2k, i open £20 otb w/ak bc he has loads of 1's in front of him, he says, "i havent looked" and reraises dark to £46, i think for at most 5 seconds and shove for 1200 effective, he looks at his hand and says "ive have a pair, i gotta call" and calls. i flip ak and he flips 66, board runs out QQ9Q8 and i cry bc losing 800bb flips is not fun.

me and my friend have to go back to the hotel before mid day to checkout so we finished about 11.30 am, very near the end my friend said to the table "if i get any sort of hand im just gonna shove" (he only had like 100bbs left tho). few hands later he open shoves 77 in ep and donk calls with JTo and hits, we leave in a combination of laughter and tears/.
09-29-2010 , 12:39 PM
sounds like a hilarious time. ul w/ AK obv
09-29-2010 , 12:41 PM
yah was a really fun week even tho i dropped £1.5 in tourneys and 2.5k in cash
09-29-2010 , 01:39 PM
Ak hand is pretty sick.

you expect a limp/re-raiser to ever flat a 4bet? Your 4bet is very very very very bad if you are folding

in response to georgeous, oops there was another page

I sort of agree with what you are saying. After a solid +2-5 BI day I am always happy, whereas when I have a ridiculous +10 or more BI day its more just lol im a luckbox, go me.

in the last 10 days I always made at least 4 BI in the first 150 hands of every session and in the end of the session I was at least at 0, but most of the time 3-4 BI minus. Even now, I was up 3 BI and I told myself to stop bc I know whats gonna happen. I didnt listen to myself and 500 hands later I am at -3.5 BI.. I think I gonna slit someones throat

09-30-2010 , 02:19 PM
this is a 15 dollar pot at a level i don't even play (50nl) i was just messing around, if i knew i was up against a 7 bb stack i wouldn't have decided to barrel and try to get whiffed heart draws to fold

either way i got owned no need for the criticism!
