John Virgo is so irritating whilst commentating. I'd imagine those in the snooker know would regard him the same way us poker players regard the hopeless old guard.

"Where's the cue ball going!!" To be fair i like JV. Wullie Thorne's my favourite commentator even if a bit eccentric. Been well impressed and surprised with Hendry's commentary this season. I used to despise Clive Everon back in the day.

The snooker's on Eurosport too. Funny listening to Joe Johnson calling players for everything for doing their calculations wrong and then realising it's him that can't count.

Dennis: "You don't mind the old double yourself do you Ken?
Ken: "Only when you're paying Dennis"

Ken is pretty solid imo.

I'm happy to have broke even on the 1st rounds. John Higgins is an absolute certainty to beat dott in the quarters. Fancy Robertson to do Murphy. Didnt see Williams v Maguire but Selby looked edgy today so i'd take Williams. Trump v Ronnie is anybodys guess. I'll go for Judd
I got this wrong, it's actually Williams v Robertson and Murphy v Selby.

Quarter winners imo:

Judd? 11/10
Robertson 10/11
Murphy 11/8
Higgins!! odds not available yet.

Lol nh Ken.

Bugged me for a number of years when Dennis talks about "the knowledgeable crowd" when they clap as someone secures frame ball. Never been to a venue since they introduced those headsets so u can listen to commentary when you're there. Looks like they would be really good though. Might try to get down to the Worlds this year. Crucible on finals night with two exciting players would be epic!

He has some cracking gambling stories lol. Why does John Parrot do the little "heres some odds and bets" section when the worlds are on BBC when we all know willie thorne is the real gambling expert out of that lot?

JV at it again, can honestly say I've never heard the expression "The cards never forgive you" neither do the balls apparently...

ffs

jesus christ, this is the ipoker regs thead, not the 45 yr old borefest thread, I have literally never ever been so bored in this thread

snooker ffs, SNOOKER, the worlst most boring sport, even darts is exciting, ffs snooker, id rather kill myself than watch 2 frames of some boring **** play another boring moron at the worlds most boring game

ghetto snooker, you seem like a really nice dude, kind of guy we'd all have fun having a pint with, honestly but ffs, i feel like going back to the mid stakes thread the way this is going

at least have a go at nirwanda or something, even he doesnt bother anymore, he has better things to do, Nirwanda has better things to do!!! Dear god

Ye I agree this thread does suck of late. Also, snooker is a fun game to play.
01-19-2012 , 03:10 AM
playing snooker is about as exciting as Stoke's tactics away from home
01-19-2012 , 03:51 AM
Ye but it's a lot more exciting than Man City's average home atmosphere over the last few years.
Still, not saying much.

terrible reply

ive never seen a team literally waste time, hoping the game was over after 60 minutes losing 2-0, that was a new one for me, never mind not actually wanting to have a shot or having a shot

btw in that game you had probably the worst away attendance ive ever seen, even worse than wigan

my initial reply was just friendly banter but top of the league, fa cup final last year and lol pulis, we always own him so hard
01-19-2012 , 04:01 AM
Yeah, a bit less snooker talk please

Maybe people knew we were going to bend over and take it without a struggle to give ourselves a better chance over the rest of Christmas. I don't agree with Pulis' decisions at times, but I trust that he knows what's best better than I ever will. If he thinks that playing for a limited defeat against a club with a collossal advantage is best for Stoke City then I trust that his decision is better than mine would be.
Don't see how you can criticise our support when you know we're a small club from an inpoverished city, that also happens to be the smallest in England that has 2 professional teams. If I was you I'd be very wary of starting to sound like a Man United fan.
01-19-2012 , 06:42 AM
Id just stop ending my posts with really smug comments, and btw thats a really lazy throw away comment that any braindead supporter would come up with.

If you actually think about it you realise, it just doesnt actually make any sense at all, no foundation, no reasoning, just general lazy comment

And ill start criticising your support the moment you criticise ours, thats how life works, thats how being a football fan works.

"Your supports ****"
"No, your supports ****"
"That is an unfair comment because our city is inpoverished"

I dont post often here but I feel I have to bring this subject up again. I play M/HSNL on iPoker and have brought up the players in question a million times. I cant remember the exact screenanmes of these people but they were all Chinese and all had similar sounding names. KChild Tksgoodchils, You168 etc those people.

Suddenly out of the blue they have ALL disappeared, when they used to play all day everyday, mainly bumhunting art and the likes. I played ALOT with them, they were always in my games. I was caught up in hands with them on numerous occasions and lost money directly to them when I got caught in the crossfire not that they were sitting for my money as it was clear who they targeted, I not only lost $/£ when getting squeezed I also lost tonnes in equity (which cant be calculated). T

hey got reported by alot of regs and we were all given the same responses, that they were legit and not colluding, which was utter BS. They ahve since as far as I'm aware disappeared, maybe they got banned on the quiet? Can anyone shed anymore light on this matter?

If anything, there should be more snooker chat. What a game, nothing like coming in from a hard day's work and cranking up the TV for some snooker, the most relaxing thing you can watch on TV (green baize=genius idea, green relaxes the eyes more than any colour).

When I was back home in the north we would have a roaring log fire and the snooker on while it was freezing cold outside and dark, sat in front of the snooker with a pint mug of tea and chocolate brownie, doesn't get any better than that after a hard day's slog. It's sad how snooker has slipped since the glory days, guys like Barry Hearn trying to 'spice up' the game and its image or whatever.

Willie Thorne could be a monster on his day at the felt, but he is probably just a degen now. Snooker really needs a dynamic commentator like Sid Waddell, best commentator in history IMO.

Will reduce snooker chat, but where can I watch Ronnie vs Judd? It doesn't seem to be live on the Beeb.
01-19-2012 , 07:55 AM
It's on BBC2, I'm looking forward to it! There are some boring games for sure - but this is def not gonna be one of them.

Meh SCREW them, CLOTH eared muppets, I'm on your SIDE. I could go on making these puns until I am RED in the face, even if I was put on the SPOT. Let's DOUBLE our efforts and not allow them to SPIN this thread it's all gone over the TOP. It's a case of the kettle calling the POT BLACK. Goatian's not a bad lad though, perhaps we should give him a BREAK.
