i think that says a lot about the kind of man jack was. can't imagine what his family must be going through..

****, terrible news, my heart goes out to those of you who knew Jack, seemed like a great guy

It's so weird. My GF's dad passed away last month, who I have known pretty well for like a 1.5years, yet Jack's (who I only know from here and on skype chats) death honestly hit me harder. I guess its the shock factor plus the tragedy that is anyone young passing away.

condolences to his family and friends

went out boozing last night and poured out some liquor for Jack. battled with him a bit back in the day, good times. disturbing and sickening to see one of us go, especially when it was one of the best of us.

Did anyone here know him in real life?

What was his personality like?

maybe as a tribue to jack some of you guys that had a chance to battle him can share your reads/impressions of his game. post a hh or something where he owned you.

i know him irl. hes one of my closer friends and we hung out quite a lot. I would visit him in swansea and he would come to london. I already booked tickets to go to thailand to see him in april.

he's a ****ing legend. super nice always willing to help, extremely friendly person. he was quite innocent/naive but thats what i liked about him most, because of that he was very genuine at all times. like he would be the type of person who would be telling his life story to somebody he met just a few minutes ago and i have never seen anybody not enjoy his company. he was quite funny and laid back as well, had a great outlook on life was just focusing on chilling. i can imagine him right now, wherever he is, just smirking and being like oh well lol variance.

regarding poker, he was one of the best players i know. his mind was analytical and always open to new ideas. without him, i would not have improved so immensely in such a short period of time. he recognised my ability before i even did and ever since that day 2 years ago i pm-ed him, he trusted me so much that he even invited me to be his business partner for hlp with kyle (shipit2kg). although hlp didnt go as well as we initially aimed for due to black friday, we still had a great time developing the site and had many plans for future hlp.

dude he was just ****ing awesome.

i miss him.

nice words john

wow, just read the news.

I hope his family can read this one day and see how many people, who may not have ever met him, felt his presence.

We spoke a bit, couldn't have been a nice guy.

I remember when he started posting on 2p2. He was in every strat thread always respectful, but always challenging conventional wisdom. He worked really hard on his game with a great approach.

RIP, Jack.... and my heart goes out to all that knew him, both family and friends.

Has anyone close to him thought of creating some kind of donation/charity thing? Maybe for something he was passionate about? Between us 2+2 guys alone I'm sure we could raise a lot of money for something good and remember him that way. I'd be happy to donate in his honour.

That is pretty much exactly the impression I got from talking to him on Skype as well. He also asked me if I wanted to get involved with HLP kind of out of the blue and I must have been one of the very early beta accounts.
We thought about hands in a very similar manner which was pretty scarry/strange and I would certainly say he was the most friendly and inviting poker player I knew.

Don't really remember much about his game because I'm trying to forget FTP but he was very good. He was really good at 3betting aggro and continuing postflop and had thought that through quite a bit. Was also very good at tailoring his play to villains.

thatssosick, you should show his parents this thread, if you have their contact. i'm sure a parent would want to see that their kid had a big impact on alot of people.

thatssosick, any idea as to why his 2p2 account has been active today? if someone does have access to it please leave it out of respect, it was his privacy.

i hope the poker sites that jack played on contact the family and pay the money he had online to them asap, it would be nice for his family to give him a great send off.

the impact its had on me personally has been quite suprising, especially as jack was someone i'd never met in real life or spoke to for longer than 10 minutes. I supposed it was just his character, the constant help he gave people through posts on 2+2 and videos he made. The tragic accident has been on my mind ever since i opened 2+2 a couple of days ago, all I hope now is that your resting well up there jack and one day i'd like to join you in a game of cards if you've got a seat open up there RIP

i actually have no idea why and am quite curious. my best guess is that emma (his sister) is using his computer to access 2p2 and his login was saved on the computer so it is showing up as him.

when i first saw it i really hoped it was all some sick joke and he was still around. unfortunately its not.

Only just heard the news. Can't believe it. I haven't really been active in the skype study group where I got to know him for a few months but I can only echo the sentiments put forward by others in this thread.

Very helpful guy who was always welcoming to newbies and vets alike. Our group and this world is worse off for his passing.

RIP Jack.

There appeared a new article about GBT in Belgium (http://trends.knack.be/economie/nieu...0041552099.htm -dutch-)

cliffs:
- GBT created a firm to create pokertournaments
- located in Bruxelles, Belgium
- They didn't (yet) notify the Belgian government about it though (as poker is blablalbla illegal except if you have permission from the government)

It has something to do with their plans of that 30k playerfield tournament in Wembley.

Pretty good point, someone should collect his known names/sites he played so that the family can get to the money

Soooooooooo. If I call the wifey and say I'm working late on Vday, she'll come to my office in some hot lingerie and perform a strip tease for me, stuff her panties in my mouth and punch me in the face?

Where do I sign up?

Valentines day is the best day for picking up random chicks. Might as well call it women-hardwired-desperation day.
