Would be really smart though if your roll is short and you're a pretty good player, add some MTT's in and try to run well and juice your roll up so you can move up in the cash games.

I try to stay away from redbull as much as possible. when I was a lol live pro in vegas, I use to drink 6-8 redbulls on average a day. seriously wish I was exaggerating...

- Almost never drink redbull (only take one when I go to a dance event to pull me through the night)
- Try to minimize cola usage (never cola at home, occasionally at the appartment and never go to class)
- Almost never alcohol (I can get dizzy from 1 beer now lol)

What do I drink? I try to keep bottle of water on me. At home I drink a ****load of tea and in my appartment I usually drink 2 small cups of coffee a day.

We maybe should take it to PM? I guess it doesn't matter, other people might be interested too.
If you ever want to do the quantum stuff (I think general relativity is what you really want though), there's two good Susskind lectures series on youtube.

Re drinking:
I mostly drink water, coffee (aeropress+hand grinding to not go overboard...found a good bean store and will roast my own beans soon) and some orange juice every now and then + beer. I try to stay away from non-beer alcoholic beverages.

Also the effect of "detoxing" from those sugars and alcohol is pretty sick. Like I used to drink a LOT (4 days a week with atleast 2 beers up to 20+ from my 18th up to my 22nd and from then on a little less ). It's only from when I started to train seriously (like 1.5y ago) for later I realized that I needed to change my diet aswell. I wanted to change my health before I was going to work otherwise I wouldn't have the perseverance to continue fighting my own body

In the beginning you feel getting down a lot and not enough energy. You are fatique and I think I definately tasted beer in my mouth a couple of times lol, but there was a change point where everything got better and I felt way better / more energized and don't have that "oh yeah let's grab a beer" feeling anymore and you lose a lot of weight. With my fitness I started at 82kg and first wanted to get muscles (easier to lose fat) so went up to 89kg and I'm now at 79.5kg with around 70% of those muscles/strength I had at my peak.

I will still drink alcohol obviously, but I can not keep up with some friends anymore and will have to stop quite early. Eg. new years eve I had to quit after 2 beers, because I already started to get drunk lol.

I have only had one person give me **** for playing poker, most people thought it was pretty cool. Best friends' dad who is a degen gambler gave me some flack about gambling for a living. I am going to have both rooms in my 3 BR house open in a bit, someone come live with me: (
06-14-2012 , 06:47 AM
When I have the chance to have couple months off and you have a room free I'm super interested czglory. Definately not looking to start working immediately after finishing uni, but not too sure how my thesis is going to score so can't organise it already

lol... when people ,that not know me very well or are not so smart, ask me about what I do ( and I live in semi conservative area) usualy they respond with ... be careful, you will lose everything etc.. Intresting thing is that every single one of them had uncle that was broke degenerate that lost his house and left his family on the street ... by playing some stupid card games or five card draw or roulette or video games/slot type of things
Other friends that realy know me and usualy they are on smarter side are often fascinated and very curious on how things work because I'm just not a degenerate and you will not see me playing roulette or some other kind of money taking machine

but generaly I don't realy talk about poker outside of internet ;p

Thought I'd add this to the physics youtubes. Fascinating stuff imo, it makes me wish I was genius enough to be on this guys level.

so did scumbag Ivey end up winning that Omaha 8/B bracelet or what?
06-14-2012 , 05:18 PM
my dad was a degenerate gambler, lost everything, investments, house, wife and kids at one point. yup, my parents got divorced because of my dads gambling problem. it's a bit ironic that my profession is fed by problemed gamblers

Since this thread is still up, is FTP coming back online?

I never played there but I can sign rakeback deal with rakebackpro if it comes back on.

sucks to hear that :/ took my mom 5 years to accept me playing poker and after 4 years she told me that when she was young my killed uncle (my moms brother) degened her piano on a gambling debt.

Honestly, if you played golf/football or whatever for a living and had some success you would be a hero. People just have preconceived ideas that poker is gambling and gambling is bad of course.

Don't mean to be suggesting that poker/gambling can't cause problems, but I think many people take huge risks whether it be trading/investing or starting a business, which doesn't get viewed in the same light as playing pokers but can bring similar or probably greater risks.

difference is that in poker everything is relative and in sports you have a contract and above that endorsements.
06-15-2012 , 06:59 AM
Yeah but a lot of the guys who are trying to "make it" dont have contracts. Like if you are a fringe player who isn;t quite good enough to be professional (what i'm sure a lot of people on here are at poker, sure we make money but arent good enough to consider it a career move) they are in a similar boat.

true but the difference is that if one is not good enough to be a competitor on the PGA Tour (golf) they can become a club pro and have a consistent income.
