his play is not "terrible". as much as that seems like an easy word to use so you don't have to explain your standpoint.
his play isn't exactly optimal though, as hes trying to pinpoint villian (heros) range to very specific hands, and playing exploitatively because of it. if his read was correct his play was certainly maximizing his potential gain in that specific spot. now, what I think you take issue with is it's not balanced, and I agree. now if his intention was to play exploitatively and not balanced, the only issue is his assumptions of ranges, and if they are off by a fraction this could be a losing play.
likely a sketchy read/line? yes. "terrible play"? a little unlikely given results + responses in this thread.
