B) It was 5 in the morning and I was trying to recount my experience in Atlanta. Landing at the airport was actually something that I remember quite fondly. I like seeing new kinds of people, after about 1 min of walking around, though, I was sad to realize that they all occupied the lowest wage jobs
. They were all super friendly too, I guess all people there had more of a warmer personality than they do in the NW. I gave out about a pack of smokes just walking around, smoked a J with random dude who was on break. Talked to the homeless. It was an experience.
Without getting into the semantics of what I should or shouldn't say as a joke, I actually think that its interesting how the physical appearance of a person makes an impression. Now it could be that there just aren't many black people in the 907 and I'm not well adjusted, but I had a friend that was half Ethiopian and its not like there's a lack of ethnicity up there, or racial tension for that matter. I'm also no whimsical idiot either.
Anyways, it feels like if I were to walk into a room full of Africans that my brain/subconscious/whatever will react more than if I'm in a room full of Far East/SE Asains, Eskimos, American White, Northern Euorpeans, Russians, hispanic etc. Can't speak much for tribal peoples or south american so it could really be a familiarity factor; but there is something about the nature of blacks that makes their presence stand out.
I think there is always something more visceral behind enslavement and racism than can be categorized.
edit: imo.
