Wow you play on such high level bro.
Maybe if you weren't playing 5 levels above everyone on every hand you could actually beat high stakes.

I wish Ultimate Poker had hand histories. So annoying not to be able to share my spewy apelike exploits.

I'm still a season behind. The last episode I saw bummed me out at the end (that was the writer's intent I'm sure but still gay) It was the episode with the train and methylamine.

I'm sure everybody is paying attention in other threads, but I got my email from The Garden City Group today. Maybe I'll get some money back!

(excuse for me to link my goodreads 2013 shelf: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list...est?shelf=2013)

What kind of book are you interested in?

I've been reading a lot of non fiction lately. Just finished Anthony Bourdain's Medium Raw (he's getting incredibly whiney in his old age).

Also been reading a lot of Hemingway.

I like everything though. I feel like we have very similar taste. Any recommendations for something that you've recently read that really piqued your interest?

For non-fiction, Better Angels of our Nature by Pinker is the best I've read in a long time: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...om_search=true

The last non-fiction that I liked as much was the Making of the Atomic Bomb: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...he_Atomic_Bomb

There's a new Tyler Cowen book out last week that I imagine is really good. I definitely liked the Great Stagnation: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...om_search=true

For fiction, Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway was the best book I read last year (and re-read this year): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12266560-angelmaker

Norwegian Wood is my favourite book in general: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...om_search=true

I liked Ready Player One a lot, though you may have had to been born in the 80s: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...ady-player-one

Man that norwegian wood book looks (subjectively) terrible. I'm sure it's great, but reading the blurb about it looks like the last book I would ever read. What's so great about it?

I love Murakami's writing style - he makes the absurd seem normal and the normal seem absurd. This is his most normal book: no talking cats or magic wells or psychic sheep. And remember that this is a guy who is regularly one of the favourites for the Nobel prize of literature, even if he hasn't actually won it yet.

I guess I also like the insight into things I otherwise wouldn't be able to relate to very well - life in 1960's Japan isn't too similar to mine. And I generally like stories about adults looking back on when they first learnt something about how the world worked, again for the insight.

I don't think there's much point reading it if you think the summary looks terrible though. Not every book is for every one. I'd guess that most people who love this book will relate to the lead character.

Great suggestions. Thank you very much!

I've already read everything Murikami has ever written (including his little known book on running -- What I talk About When I Talk About Running")

Yeh, that was good too. Though the problem with that kind of recursive title is that I end up saying to myself "what I think about when I think about thinking" or "what I talk about when I talk about talking about running". Annoying.

Looking at getting a new laptop. Don't really game or need any set requirements, ideally want 15" so can watch tv/Movies, want it to feel sturdu(love the mac books just don't like apple). Doesn't need to be uberportable but prefer lighter.

Dream comp would be 15" macbook air that was HD and windows. Any ideas?

Take a look at Lenovo, their think pad is a great build but I think they have a thin model now that may be similar to what you're looking for.
