2 + 2 has been dead these last couple of weeks.

Blogpost: It's not exactly med school, but I applied for a Head of Retention job in Malta and also a Poker Manager job in Vegas. Former pays better (particularly after their lack of tax) but obviously being in the US market would be fun, visa permitting. Have put my 2 + 2 name on my CV in both cases...

It's kind of awkward as there just aren't that many jobs that I should be applying for - I guess there're 50-60 jobs in the world that I'm a) qualified for and b) are a step up from what I was doing a year ago - so I have to wait for interesting ones to become available.

Congrats man. I'm applying to McIntire as a transfer student next term. Good luck with Darden and let me know if you head to UVA

Check out PokerTrip Enterprises. Not sure if they'll have anything you're looking for, but they posted a bunch of jobs today as Nevada sites are nearing completion.

LinkedIn Link

If nothing else, you may want to network with the current employees of that company and create some connections for the future. Jon Friedberg is the man in charge.

Thanks. Not sure it's quite what I'm looking for but I'll investigate.

Is it actually legal to click connect on people you don't know on linkedin? I've essentially never clicked connect on anyone, and I ignore requests from people I don't know.

I agree it's a little awkward on LinkedIn. Do you use Twitter? Jon is on Twitter and that would be a better way to approach him. Also, their websites have a support email that you could use to eventually reach him.

Sometimes you HAVE to grab opportunities to network by the balls and just do it. Just say, "Hi I'm (insert name) and I've worked as (insert job) here in the poker industry for the last X number of years." The conversation should flow from there.

The two sites they own are focused on live poker trips and venues, but they are now approved to be an affiliate for online Nevada sites. If in the future you ever get an opening at a site in Nevada, already having talked with Jon would be HUGE advantage.

Dear SSNL: I went to replace a light bulb in my apartment today when it went out and was surprised to discover it does not in fact use a light bulb. What the hell is this thing?

03-29-2013 , 06:41 PM
Looks like some hipster San Fran fluorescent bulb to me

It'll almost certainly have a code on the side near one of the connectors, which you should be able to google. That's how I identified the various weird light fixtures in my house
03-29-2013 , 11:52 PM
I took the middle thing out, here's a closer look:

No identifiable codes/markings on it. nfi how this thing is ostensibly supposed to generate light.

How many doctors does it take to change a light bulb?

Perhaps we'll find out...

obviously a cylon plant.

Do you rent? If so it's always the responsibility of the landlord to change/provide lightbulbs.

Not sure where you're from, but this isn't true for me
03-30-2013 , 09:16 AM
it is here. I have an appartment and 2 weeks ago the landlord came and replaced all the taps
03-30-2013 , 09:19 AM
What is a tap? Is that a bulb in Belgium?
03-30-2013 , 09:24 AM
I'm fairly sure that that isn't true in the UK in general but if it IS then that would be awesome. Maybe it's just a place by place thing?

I wonder how many bulbs I've paid for in my 13 years of renting.
03-30-2013 , 09:55 AM
no taps like in water crane? i have no clue what the right word is lol so please tell me =D
03-30-2013 , 10:09 AM
Yes, a tap has to do with drinking water in USA. Still not sure what you mean when you say the landlord came to replace the taps when we're talking about light bulbs. (I do learn a lot of euro lingo from this thread).

As a Euro I am scratching my head on this one too
