Posted by one of his friends in the FTP regs thread and it sums my experiences with him up perfectly:

I once had the pleasure of sitting next to Jack in a live game when he was just finishing up university and he told me all about his hopes, fears and thoughts of 'going pro'. I spoke to him for a couple of hours and he's definately the most genuine and likeable guy I've ever met (and am likely to ever meet) at a poker table. I thoroughly enjoyed his company that night and had exchanged a couple of PMs with him on here since.

I obviously didn't know the guy that well but can't help but feel absolutely devastated by this news.

RIP Jack

Had to create an account to post here...usually just lurk..

I knew Jack reasonably well as he coached me over a 2 month period in 2010 and since then we discussed many ideas and chatted over skype regularly. His coaching was fab and helped me so much, he hardly wanted to charge me anything (i had to force funds to him) and he would always go 30-40 mins over on time.
He was a fantasic guy and nothing was ever too much trouble.

He would not only answer q's i had on hands/strategy..he would send me presentations explaining things via e-mail. he always wanted my latest nic to make sure i was still 'crushing'.
This is so devastating and i hope his family can take something from hearing the 100% positive and heartfelt feedback recieved from the poker community.
Sadly missed

He approached me after I blogged about giving away free lessons at CR. I knew of him already and respected his game and all the valuable insight he'd given away to students and through 2+2 posts. Even though I was to coach him, I was looking forward to bouncing off ideas w/ him and learning some things myself.

We talked on skype a couple of times and we scheduled our 1st sweat session last Wed., Feb 8th. I was wondering why he never showed.

Rest in peace Jack.

We need more people like Jack to set as good of an example as he did.

Hi guys,

Just received the following message from Jack's sister Emma:

"We have now arranged Jack's funeral. It is on the 8th March at 1:45pm at Henley Road Cemetery, Reading. Details can be found at www.abwalker.co.uk in the next day or so when they upload the obituary. I wasn't sure if you wanted to attend or if you knew anyone that wanted to attend. Could you possibly try and let his poker following know? I am not sure if you are a member on any forums etc. As we are trying to spread the word as much as possible as it would be a terrible shame if someone was to miss it. "

Clearly his family want as much of Jack's poker friends and following to attend the funeral as possible, so I'd definitely urge any UK/England people to try make it if they can.

I just heard about this... unreal. I reached out to him when I saw some of his videos on the Poker Bank: he wrote back and always made himself available via e-mail. A real class act, and from what I can tell... a great guy.

For those that didn't know I would recommend checking out some of his videos. Jack had a great voice along with good insights and he was always fun to listen to.

Was wondering if anyone knows specifics on what happened during the accident, if he was wearing a motorcycle helmet, etc. I know a few bikers and I am a cyclist and want people to learn from other's mistakes.

I found this out watching the poker motivational video on ipokervip, I am actually pretty upset even though I've never known the guy, But I came across him by watching is coaching videos and interviews etc, I actually pretty shocked I mean, its 26th march today, it practically only happened little over a month ago. It just goes to show you really never know when your going to die

This is crazy. Here's a PM I got from him in april '09:

fold equity question

hi,

i read your post in the SSNL forum yesterday about calcuating fold equity.

i am trying to do some calculations regarding 4bet bluffing, i was wondering if you could have a look and see if its correct/ if im missing something.

[snip]

Here he asks me a bunch of math stuff

[snip]

sorry if i was rude to PM u asking this, i am just trying to improve my strategy for 1/2, and any help you can provide is very much appreciated.

[bolding by me]

thank you.
"sorry if i was rude to PM u asking this". This in combination with him coaching people for free, having to be forced to accept money, and I get a pretty good picture of how much of a genuinely nice dude he must have been.

Apart from our PMs regarding this FE-equation in '09 I didn't really have anything to do with him, but I've always respected his posting here.

May he rest in peace.

this is awful to hear. was in a skype group w/ jack and he was always helping everyone out even though he and another guy were probably the two best players in the group. definitely one of the posters I respected.

i barely post anymore but felt compelled to post after seeing this. my best wishes to his family and friends.

BoC34 is correct, his sister posted on Jacks Facebook wall that they just got his belongings back from Thailand, including his laptop, and to not be alerted if they see his account on Facebook chat etc....they are just sorting his stuff out

Hi guys, for those of you you knew Jack or just fancy showing your appreciation there is a memorial tournament for him this weekend in his hometown, Reading UK. It's a £20 +2f/o and more about having a laugh sharing stories about him and having a good night out in his honour during/afterwards.

Full details can be found here
https://www.facebook.com/events/5055...49460/?fref=ts

Last year was a great success and we hope to better it!

Any questions just post on the fb group wall as I don't really use 2p2

Thanks

Rob

I only recently found out that Jack passed away. I didn't know him that well but I interacted with him a couple of times on the forum. His accomplishments were incredible. He started playing in 2009 and in less than a year he moved from 25NL to 1000NL, which is amazing. He was also a nice guy. He deserves his place in poker heaven alongside the likes of Chip, Amarillo and Brandi H. They all went too soon, but especially Jack who was only 22. RIP jack.
