There's also people where you can predict very accurately that they get pissed or tilt and 4bet you way too wide

tl;dr: OP didn't do the greatest job of defining his terms imo
Even if that's the case, they never 4Bet with the intention of 4Bet/folding enough to make 5Bet-bluffing profitable so even though they may be tilt-bluffing, their range is still not too junky (because they probably will 4Bet/call AJ/AT along with 77-99 especially if they're tilting).

I mean you're going to be bluffed off hands, that's a fact. That's another way people level themselves into spewing because he COULD be bluffing, but they never wonder "is he bluffing enough?"

Please don't say things like "it's burning money," because that's silly.

Obviously i have the advantage that people are lazy and dumb on my side, but the games have deteriorated alot lately. They are still obv beatable but people need to really think about there motives for doing **** like this. Putting strategy out there for free is dumb, especially if your not making money from it.

The only people who have made a bunch from the training sites are the owners. and everyone else has suffered. You could argue they have made someone like me better aswell, but i dont really agree, i was gonna get better no matter what, ive put in the world and i think about poker the right way.

Free/cheap strategy content basically makes it easy for dumb people to learn this stuff instead of figuring it out for themselves. And that said, it doesnt make them into great players, but it turns previously sucky players into players with far less leaks. Consequently lowering my winrate.

OP failed when he didn't clearly define the terms 'ABC' and 'solid' at the beginning as these clearly have subjective meanings...Sort of felt like citizen created a false dichotomy between solid and creative play, when really both can be good. What players should be trying to achieve is always playing 'solid,' and never playing 'not-solid.' No one in their right mind has ever actually advocated playing non-solid poker unless their definition of solid is something along the lines of 'mindless textbook exploitable play.' Didn't really read much beyond that, so I can't speak on the rest of the content.

That being said it looks like several people did enjoy/extrapolate from the OP so nice post regardless.

I seriously think that if someone offered you ******s a check for $100,000 and the only condition of your acceptance is that people on the Internet would call you a nit some of you would not take it.

i play a 20/17/5

do I winz the SSNL?

There's so much inherently wrong with the OP.

Here's a metaphor, because I like metaphors. If poker skill (or lack thereof) is a disease, and this post is drug, and the state of someone's game is a symptom of the disease - all this post does is treat the symptom. The games will not get worse because some guy posts something like "play tighter" when everyone and their mother has a fundamental lack of understanding regarding poker theory.

There's a reason why Tom Dwan is successful, and there's a reason why Phil Galfond is successful. I can assure you that it's not related to their VPIP, PFR nor their 3bet percentage. You don't measure how good someone is at ****ing by measuring their dick.

dude, OP, way to tap the tank

or the zoo if you will

this thread rocks
10-12-2010 , 11:06 PM
wow, this thread is still going?

a lot of it's tl;dr at this point, but I will say this: i agree with a lot of the people who disagree with me. there's a threshold where you have to say "**** it, im going to do something new and uncomfortable." completely agree. but not at 50nl.

also, i agree that my definition of solid is sloppy, and nano isn't a tag blah blah blah.

some of the posts in this thread, though i disagree with them, are ****ing spectacular. there are a lot of substantial poker minds out there, and it's great to be reading your thoughts. thank ya'll.

though .... this post is aimed at rb grinders and b/e 50-100nl regs, so i dunno why people are all talking about 10/20 and ish.

<3

team jacob for life. if jacob's the TAG vampire.

OP have you read Small stales no limit holdem by Ed Miller?
What do you think of the style they recommend in the book for 200nl compared to your recommendations?
