I like to think if you check here your giving him room to bluff and plan on calling him I think check folding is a mistake, besides flopping top set this board is pretty nice for what we were hoping to flop isn't it?

IMO what is his 3-betting range here? Could be a crazy guy or a High 3-card hand, suited, double suited, J9T7 rundowns with single gap or double etc. Alot of hands haha but basically if he has a J your incredibly thing as you know.... with so little invested this spot sucks. Against a bare draw you got the correct immediate price giving you shove and villain calls so when he makes this play and you fold this is an awesome spot for him. Pre-flop I'd like the 3-bet if SB or BB or both call because with SPR alot of flops your jamming but HU out of pos you put yourself in alot of spots like this. Giving you just called pre and villain bets flop you can call and see a turn even vs pot sized bets and see what happens as he may then take different lines on further streets instead of jamming flop and hoping you fold with his draws. Really with a J I think he should be betting smaller to induce a check raise from you as you could then get your whole stack in because flushes wont hit turn often and he could then get his stack in if you didn't check raise and so maybe you pick up equity with his still dominated hand. At these stakes the nits and loose cannons are crazy so it can be hard to tell readless

You are burning money if you 4bet preflop and then check/fold like this. You are far too exploitable. With such a low SPR you just have to go with it. Sometimes he will have it and you chalk that up to variance.

After 4betting preflop and leaving such a short SPR you have very limited options. The best is likely to pot/ call it off, just commit yourself and give yourself a price that you can never fold if villain shoves. Against some opponents I see some merit to either betting small or checking, noting that with all of the above options you get the money in on the flop and BL if you were outflopped but you just have to GII. If you end up 4betting and check folding your overpairs when you flop boards (like this one) that don't give you any additional equity like SD/ FD or a pair or something villain can just call 100% of your 4bets & pot with his whole range vs your check and print money off of you.

An additional point; the whole idea of 4betting a third or so if your stack preflop with AA is so you can pot/ shove 100% of flops which villain isn't going to be able to exploit because you'll be committed and he'll just have to have hands that can call when he's still going to have tonnes or hands that completely brick or plenty of FD/ weaker overpair combos that will call a lot too.

I can see a c/f here against a player that you know will only bet his hands and check his whiffs/draws. These guy are all suggesting a general approach, which isn't bad, but you're always in a specific situation and that's the problem.

It can be an exploitable fold and your weakness may become apparent to the table. The part that was left out is you can exploit them exploiting you if they try to do so.

A really big detail of this hand to me is whether or not the V is betting even though he expects a call/raise almost all of the time.

Well I wasn't expecting a check fold to a pot bet on paired board with flush draw available.
Potting the flop as villain with the J is a nasty trap to be honest and theres some very nice poker to be played in these spots because both players should be rotating their tempos. I prefer small bet and decide, mostly not folding, in general.

You have got a large enough chunk of your stack in pre to call it off unexploitably. he shows up with KKdd QQdd A*dd as well as J*** or better. If I had a J as villain I'm not being aggresssive on flop because draws don't fold either way and his stack is invested enough to not give a **** about giving him one card and oppertunity to hang himself.

When you 4bet pre 100bb deep and you got this flop just
Stack off and don't feel bad if they have J. More often you will be against FD, kk and even random bluffs.
