how is rake at those .50 HU tables? I'd like to learn HU but figured the rake HU and/or variance would make it not worthwhile

The rake apparently is bad at the FTP NL/PLO50 heads up tables, but the players generally have lots of leaks, making it pretty profitable. Also, it seems like most people are pretty bad at heads up games in general, and given that lots of people are bad at PLO, I think it's def. more profitable than NLHU.

Table selection is pretty easy. For sure, play anyone who does not sit full stacked. They are always, always, always fish.

Come on Poker Stars, you could have paired the board normally, you didn't have to show off. On the river was a nice touch though.

You probably can't expect to be good there very often anyway. 4-way all-in with bottom set no redraws on a drawy flop, this is marginal only because everyone is short.

So losing as a big favorite is ok b/c i probably wasn't good there anyways?

You're probably good (i.e. a favorite) the majority of the time there, but your equity vs. 3 random players' combined ranges is probably ****ty.

If you were all 100bb deep then it would be flop fold no question.

100bbs effective I would I expect someone to have an overset the majority of the time, in which case we're drawing to approximately one out (sometimes the other 6 will already be out, and sometimes our flush will hit and be the best hand). The pot odds are attractive, but even the few times we actually do have the best hand our equity sucks. We had the BEST BEST possible scenario here and we still only had 48% equity.

Was I wrong for actually thinking about folding at some point preflop? LOL!

Villain was a monster fish who started with like a 20 dollar stack, but has built his stack to where it is by doubling up with 30% equity in an all in preflop, and then winning a coinflip vs me for 100bb.

He had been calling me down with TPTK, which is why I was firing flop and turn for value. River I potted it because my line looks sooo bluffy when I pot a river straight card, and he almost instantly jams. I'm like lolollol he thinks I'm bluffing - but wait, he has shoved for valueeeeeee - good thing the river loves me.
