I don't get why people say this? unless you just mean that the downswings are nastier and the upswings milder. variance stays the same though. i used 0bb/100 winrate to make it easier to see from the graph how much you're results can differ from any expected wr.

Btw, I simulated 100 times instead of 1000 to show the swings are easily that huge 2% of the times instead of 0.2%. With several sims naturally also coming close.

Mad Twatter, I almost went for a crazy rant about that too ("variance is a lot nastier" quote) as my initial reaction, but then started thinking that he didn't really imply there'd be more variance.

The same variance certainly feels more nasty with worse winrate to most of us, because we compare our results to breaking even (ie. look how much we won/lost) rather than our long term expectation and there's a huge psychological difference for most of us between winning and losing. (rather than running below/above what we think our longterm expectation is)

First part EV wasn't far from total winning but the later session was definitely loads of rungood in that sense as well. Also won a 20-80 in the tournament to stay alive a while ago.
