What do you think about this play?
Call pre-flop because if we hit the flop, we hit it most of the times pretty hard vc range of vallain's open UTG (like broadways, AAxx, KKxx)
I did not raise on flop because there are not a lot of terrible turns for me.
I donk flop because you see that in most of the times on these stakes people give up after a c-bet if they missed. So it was a valuebet on turn.
Fold river because in my mindset this was for sure a riverred flush

i just fold pre, you'll be dominated so often. oop might be better to check raise flop instead of having to donk the turn

How careful are you when the board pairs?

Live 2/5, we're playing 6 or 7 handed at this point.

an older nit reg (~$500) opens to 25 after a limper in EP I flat on the button w/QhTd9d5h, both blinds and limper calls, everyone has $400-600, i cover.

flop ($100) Th7d2d, checks to reg who pots. I call and sb calls. Turn is a 2, checks through, river is a diamond, checks through.


I think my hand is playable on the button against a tight opening range (AA w/at least one suit, and broadway hands). Table dynamics are such that most players will call one bet preflop with anything they think is playable (suited aces, any hand with wrap potential, most double suited hands, and pairs like dry JJ). After thinking about the hand i think the best play would be to 3bet small to $50 or $55 to isolate because my hand plays better HU IP than multiway.

On the flop I was unsure how to proceed with three players still to act behind. I'm in bad shape against AA+nfd but a favorite against dry AA so HU I can repot and get it in comfortably but multiway I wasn't sure. I suppose jamming wouldn't be a huge mistake since stacks aren't deep. $400 is a big bet in live poker and most players in the pool come from holdem and aren't willing to put in large amount of money on draws so I may be able to push out better draws than mine.

I think it's a leak of mine betting with marginal hands and stacking off in spots like this one. Because we never have really good equtiy against anything here?

I don't know what I dislike most aboout this hand, the flopbet or the stackoff afterwards? Could be better to checkback more marginal hands like this one.

I think this is a good flop to checkback on,, we really hate to get c/r since we are drawing thin against villains GII range here (sets,pair+bigger flushdraws)

Do we need to worry about 77? I put him on a set when he called those 2 big bets. 22 K2 K7 and even 27 is possibility.

so there's one combo of 77 in his range that beats you and a lot of combos that you beat and he won't fold on river. easy maths --> shovel all day long.


edit: the word combo is used here because of my lack of a better word. obv there's lots of 77xx, but that's not the point as there are lots of K7xx, 72xx and 22xx too.

opp is on the agro side, cbetting most of the time, less often on turn.
