Hi all,

V seems like a good player, mentioned to his friend at the table he hadn’t played live in a while (maybe had been playing online). Said these games are impossible to lose. Rather than offering to chop the blinds folded to us he immediately raises to $15, I flat KKJT4 K-high diamonds and Ks.

Flop ($30): K68r. He bets $25 I call.

Turn ($80): Qs bringing bdfd. He bets $60 I raise to $250, he tanks a little and calls.

River ($580): 7h. He donks pot. Hero? We have T for nuts blocker and unblock nut spades but his line is credibly repping a wrap that got there. Against a good player who is probably capable do we call here?

Thanks,
DT

It's probably a fold, but against someone at least decent, I think you might need to call some of the time. He would need almost exactly QJTxss to justify his turn call without hitting the river, but it's also possible he's turning 6789 (with or without the spade draw) or similar into a bluff.

what are stacks? after flatting BvB here this may be a good opportunity to raise flop against a good player. i think your line is fine too.

i'm probably folding here but we probably do need to call at least occasionally against a good player.

We started $800 eff.

How often are you calling? Would you randomize?

I'd prob fold this - I really don't think he donk pots after you raise the turn without the straight at a high enough frequency to call.

Hero only has 1 spade? If so we call even more.

Can't see this as much worse than an ev neutral call, and agressive villain is probably bluffing enough to give us the right odds.

Unblocking the As and blocking a T also increase villain bluff frequencies. Even though blocking the k and broadway straight draws makes bluffcatching less appealing.

Hero should strongly consider raising the flop.
