PLO200

100BB Effective

Bvb

Folds around to SB who completes.
Hero checks his option with Q882ss (suits do not matter here).

Flop: Th 9h 7d

SB Checks. Hero bets pot (should I be stabbing here on this texture even with blockers?). SB Calls.

Turn: Th 9h 7d 6d

SB leads pot. Hero thinks and raises pot. SB calls.

River: Th 9h 7d 6d 9c

SB checks. Hero...?

My question is, we probably need to bet big to fold out T-hi straights (is this a smart thing to do?), but do we bet this large on paired boards with J8?

Should we be?

OTF Betting is good here imo, we have good blockers to the nuts, we can get some better hands to fold and we don't have much SD value or many outs to improve our hand.

I would personally just give up turn. You don't have much FE considering the fact that villain pots into You and there are 2 FDs.

As played I'd give up riv w/o blocking any pairs.

Just my 2c.

1) you don't really want to pot such flops with your range
2) turn is a fold
3) as played, fire river

Definitely give up turn, far too many combos that are going to continue at this point making bluffing very ambitious.

I don't get exactly what we're doing otf, it's like we're bluffing or loading up a three street blocker heavy bluff + building pot for when Jx peels off? I kinda get it.

Yeah I fold turn.

I see the pickle that you're in and the question you're asking. It is a weird spot where it seems like V's range would be mostly straights and Hero is at bottom of range so we kind of have to bluff. But we have all the wrong blockers for it and as you mentioned we wouldn't really be able to v-bet this river at all because we have no boats in our range and V has several hands that had a set+combo draw ott.

Given our blockers off the top of your head what % of V's range is a boat at this point would you say?

I think hands with showdown value, eg. 2 pairs and sets, check this turn. After he leads the turn I think he has very few boats in his range by the river.

It made absolutely no sense to me that he would lead the turn with a hand that would boat up by the river.

yeah, I'm not sure what I should do with my J8 range on this board pairing river.

I thought his 2 pair or set + flushdraw on the turn would check/call the turn rather than lead and potentially get blasted off by my "J8".

River: Hero bet half pot and villain folded.

I'm guessing villain put me on a draw when I bet the flop and lead the turn to take control of the hand.

Yeah agree re: how he would play turn with two pairs/sets, idk what I was thinking, they are clear xcs.
