Houston live 1/2 PLO

The players agreed to a 1/2/15/30 straddle, I look down at Ad5dKhKs on the 30. Our stack is ~1500. I pot to 210, lag to my left and nit to my right call.

Flop comes 853 rainbow, and I'm first to act and fire pot for 700ish. How bad is this bet?

Results: Lag (1200 effective) calls me with 2246, run it twice lose both

Thoughts: Initially thinking I should be ahead or close to flipping when firing pot, do we want to get it in here in this spot? Lag has been playing almost every hand.

1.5k at 1/2 feels like a deep game with a lot of skill, but you are really playing 15/30 and thus. have 50bb. After you raise to 7bb and get two callers, SPR will be 1.5x - 2x on flop and you'll mostly just shrug and hope for the rest of your stack.

If you have backdoor diamonds on the flop I doubt you can do much else without reads. The wider lag is the better for him, but w/e, welcome to plo.

Yeah, welcome to plo. You could check and hope it goes bet-call so you can fold, but you played it fine.

These big straddle games are dumb. You played it fine.

I really appreciate everyone's response, after making this play I felt horrible and thought I was the biggest punter. I feel a lot better and will continue to learn PLO.

So you are a noob to PLO, but decided to play in a game where the big blind was effectively $30? You might want to start at a lower level, instead of, you know, playing for extremely high stakes when you are a noob. And when people ask you to straddle or double straddle tell them no.

It's literally the lowest limit live, and what does that have to do with the way I played the hand? I just wanted to let you know your comment provides 0 value (your new = don't play high stakes durr).

actually, his post provides value, albeit in a unnecessarily condescending manner.

1. play lower.
2. don't agree to play with straddles (in order to avoid higher stakes).

all of which is good advice. listen to it!
