Playing CAP plo, Slotboom or Hwang? Playing CAP plo, Slotboom or Hwang?

One of the students I've been teaching in mixed games has been constantly telling me I need to learn CAP plo so here I am at ground zero.
The way I learn best is starting with literature. I've searched the forums and people seem to have a liking towards two authors in particular. Jeff Hwang and Rolf Slootboom. So for someone interested in building a solid base to prepare for CAP plo (40bb PLO)
I have what I like to think of as a good poker mind, and can wrap my head around concepts very easily. So that being said what book do you guys like for me to start out with, and then move on to?
Which one of Slotbooms books focuses on shorthanded shortstacking? as I feel like this would probably be the most relevant book for me.
Thanks,
Ceegee

Having played a ton of CAP, I can tell you it's all about pre-flop edges. Most players are way too spewy in calling 3bets with 40BB stacks, so there's your main edge in CAP. Limp/3betting from early position works well, eliminating positional disadvantage. Some winning CAP players 3bet virtually anything double-suited, as those hands play well in low SPR, short-handed pots.

LearnedfromTV said in one of his pokersavvy vids that single-raised pots play a lot like 3bet pots and 3bet pots a lot like 4bet pots. That's a great guide-line.

Also, adjusting by opening for half-pot is also recommended, unless you're a huge nit. Huge nits win in CAP too though !

slotboom's first book is essentially about how awesome he is and how to short stack in full ring games. so the application to what you're asking is somewhat similar but not really (if that makes any sense). the key thing is he makes a big deal about leveraging aggressive opponents to scare off other players and creating a big HU pot with lots of dead money. that's not gonna happen in cap.

you're obviously a successful player so i'm sure you can pick out what works and what doesn't from his book, for the things you want to do.

The new 2 + 2 Omaha book has a lot of shortstacking advice and examples in it and none of Rolf dumb and irrevelvant live poker stories and would be the best of any of the choices.

Hwang's book is excellent about pre-flop advice and a must read.

I never understood the CAP games. Move down in stakes or play for stacks. CAP players strike me as scared money or bad...

Spot on I often open min-raise as opposed to half-potting it.

I would not recommend Slotbooms first book. It is basically about short stacking full ring games ... I consider the book dated.

I think his second book is better, but thought it was a hard read (unstructured imho).

I consider Jockush the best option for short stack advise. For general PLO advise about starting hands and PLO concepts, go for Hwangs first book.

Spot on - the 1st book is irrelevant to today's PLO games, and the second book.... well i'm half way through and have been for a year or so; not very well written.
