PokerStars Zoom, Omaha Pot Limit - $0.25/$0.50 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Upswing Poker

UTG: $79.76 (160 bb)
MP: $48.75 (98 bb)
CO (Hero): $56.74 (113 bb)
BU: $23.50 (47 bb)
SB: $63.75 (128 bb)
BB: $50.00 (100 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.75) Hero is CO with J Q Q 3
2 players fold, Hero raises to $1.75, 1 fold, SB calls $1.50, BB calls $1.25

Flop: ($5.25) 6 3 Q (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4.99, SB raises to $19.96, BB folds, Hero raises to $54.99 (all-in), SB calls $35.03

Been trying my hand at this strange game again, and would like some feedback on my line here - specifically, opening with QQJ3ss from the CO and 3-bet jamming this flop with top set and no redraw other than the possibility of boating up. Was I creating a spot where the only thing that *should* call is a monster wrap?

I would generally check/call this hand with the wrap and fd possible and hope for a safe turn. Pot will be smaller if the draw hits.

If deeper just call and see a turn. Against combo draw you are a dog otf.

Call turn if he makes his flush/straight draw, fold river if you don’t fill up.

Against the biggest combo draw, a four card wrap and a flush draw, we are a modest dog. Against any other combo draw, like open ended + flush draw, we are favoured.

Anyway, very standard bet gii.

Anytime you can get it in with top set holdem or plo do it. Short and long term you're printing money. Don't overthink this one.

One thing to remember is that while you can potentially fold on the 7 of spades, villain can also fold on board pairs. You don't really gain anything by flatting.

Getting it in with the nuts is generally not a mistake. (There a times to play the nuts slower: you don't want to get freerolled. That concern doesn't apply here.)

However, you should reconsider your flop sizing. By betting ~pot you strengthen villains' continues to higher-equity holdings and risk folding out their weaker hands (which may pay you for a smaller size and only rarely beat you).

You also have a harder time balancing your overall strategy for when you're lower in your range than QQ, a holding which—it should be pointed out—blocks a ton of your opponents' continues (and hard).

There's generally merit in denying equity (especially when there's a FD/OESD possible), but by betting this flop so big, you're almost definitely losing value in such a way that the equity denial benefits are outweighed.

The high-equity hands you're sweating often won't fold to a PSB anyway and you win against them less often, so there's actually merit in controlling the size of the pot (a privilege of being in position).
