Two types of PLO players:
1.) Those that expect to lose when they GII, so never get upset if/when they lose a hand.
2.) Those that expect to win when the GII, so tilt their stack/bankroll/life roll off in the ensuing months.

You want to go the opposite route. If you dont like crazy variance in poker you want to find the least variant game with the most action. I would say for you to go with 9 max holdem. You can play better starting hands and not feel that pressure and tough decision making like 6 max or plo. PLO is definitely not for someone that doesn't like to get drawed out on. I could be up 5 or 6 buyins the first hr and down 5 or 6 buyins the next hr all be drawed out on with plo. Its crazy game for the sick people like myself. Trust me everyone playing plo is going to need psychiatry and meds over the long run.

People are so entitied. You’re not entitled to win if you get money in good, and people are not obliged to play in any specific way (so long as it’s not unethical). This goes doubly for people who make sarcastic needles when a fish or nit or someone who otherwise doesn’t play “good” wins a pot. Shut up, suck it up, and play.

As for OP, you’re clearly just trying to find an excuse to blame someone else for your bad self control. We’d be hurting you if we encouraged you like all those little poker carebear groups do.

I think it's because when I'm an 80% favorite that means I usually have a pretty damn good hand so I'm going to be shoveling money into the pot. Even if I dont know I'm an 80% favorite it's not like I'm getting it in with a pair of 5's vs a flush draw. I'll usually have a big overpair, TPTK or better forcing me to do a lot of value betting. Losing to a suckout usually means losing a big pot. If I checked my BB all the way to the river and my 72o lost to bottom set I wouldnt be mad. If I 3bet my BB with AA and lose to 72o on the river I lose my mind.

In loose fishy games the vast majority of your losses are going to be in these situations. If a good solid player loses a few stacks it isnt gonna be because he was outplayed by a fish, he's gonna get bad beat by one. So when all you see are bad beats you start to build this resentment for the game and the players. I know I should be seeing dollar signs in my eyes instead but I dont. To me it's like being the better player at golf but losing to someone playing for the first time because they got 4 holes in one after the balls bounced off a tree or hit a flying bird to land in.

If you don't flop a royal flush, you don't ever "deserve" to win the pot.

It's not so much that i feel i deserve to win as much as i feel they deserve to lose. Like I said I dont mind losing, especially if it's close. I just hate it when BAD play is rewarded. Honestly I get tilted even when i'm not in the hand. If I see a player suckout on another I start telling myself things like "oh great, so *this* is how it's gonna be". It's pathetic.

not sure if trolling as at one point you literally said you don't like it when people are hard to play against.

Half the time some fish donkjams the river into me he has air, the other times he has some completely hidden hand. This forces me into a guessing game whenever I have strong pairs of "well ****, am I beat or not? Oh well guess I gotta go with it". I hate that.

i don't think you're as good at poker as you think you are.

I hope you don't see yourself as a "good solid player" because they don't think like that. Work on your game and become one. Don't blame others for your shortcomings.

OP.

Here's the deal with poker in general. When all of the players are at a similar skill level it is luck the becomes the deciding factor. That's just the way it is.

No I dont. But when Doug Polk plays micros and loses a few buyins, is it because he played poorly?

You're very much missing the point. To answer your question directly: he doesn't play perfect so yes some hands will be played poorly and those can and will result in buy-ins. Also, just because you're the best player at the table doesn't mean you never get outplayed in pots.

My god.... you must be one of those obnoxious entitled whiners at the table who throw cards and cry for hours every time someone hits two pair on you. If you can’t take the heat, gtfo of the kitchen.

the other night i stacked some guy second hand in a live game with AA vs QQ AIPF. he sat and looked inconsolable for the rest of the night and wouldn't shut up about it, told anyone who would listen. like....you lost 50 bigs man stfu.

my theory is that those who see everything as negative have a lot of negative stuff happen to them just because of their mindset. if you see everything as negative then of course you'll say lots of negative stuff happens to you when anyone else would just brush it off as normal.

OP - you say hold em tilts you because they should know they're not good in certain spots, but PLO is no different. nobody should think A2KK is good on 567 suited flop against 3 players but frequently they get it in if the hand started 100 bigs deep. i mean what sort of excuse is it that they 'should know'? they don't know, they think it's good and THAT'S WHY they're rubbish and you should be happy to play with them. it's why you can 3bet to 40x and have someone call off 3 barrels with middle pair no kicker in live poker. yes it's annoying when they're clearly calling down on a flush and the flush hits, but that's where you have to be good enough to fold. if you're not, then it's you who needs to improve not them.

i don't understand your mindset at all.

I imagine when you were younger you would throw over the monopoly board when losing.

It's funny you mention that, while I would get upset when I lost at things like video games, as I recall (in my own deluded memory of course) I was usually the best at things like mario cart, street fighter, etc. Whatever competitive games I played with friends (just video games) I won most of the time. I think part of that childhood created a bubble of entitlement. I just wasnt used to losing often. Even today when I play games like overwatch or counter strike I'm usually top of the scoreboard. Sometimes I even try to compare gaming with poker, noting how I dont always win at video games and how I dont seem to get too salty over that. Something about losing tangible goods in the form of currency sets me off though.

You know come to think of it, I think it might actually be BRM related. Even though I claim to have an infinite bankroll so losing pots doesnt bother me, hmm. I think I'm going to start a new thread on that.

You should stick to games like chess where luck has no role. Poker clearly isn’t for you. No need to make another thread about it.

I love seeing bad play "rewarded" when I'm not in the hand.
