where do you live?
and how much do you play?
i'd recommend entraction because with the VIP program + rake races you can achieve good return %....plus the software is good, support is good and traffic up to 100plo is good.
but they have some limitations depending where you live.
other ones are ipoker, ongame, microgaming.

If you can get a good rakeback deal I'd recommend Ipoker. I think theres a subforum on 2+2.

Yes of course I agree all the matters I the green line. But i've played ~65k hands of plo 100 this month and I 'm down 7k in redline.

I already asked in the subforum or rakeback offers, I just need advice for the best site. The rakebackoffers I got cant be compared easily due the lack of concrete numbers. I live in Germany and I will play around 13k hands. thanks

at plo10 all sites are good (with the level of the games and traffic). you just need to choose the software the fits you the best.

Two good books for beginning PLO players are the Omaha section of "Secrets of Professional Poker 1" by Rolf Slotboom, and "Championship Omaha" by TJ Cloutier and Tom McEvoy. They touch upon a lot of the topics discussed here and help build a solid foundation for a novice PLO cash player.

I'm looking for what I've heard is a very good online non-2p2 PLO resource that synthesizes the best materials from Hwang's books and some of the best deucescracked/other training vids materials. From what I've heard it is a web site maintained by one player. Ring a bell with anyone? If so, please post it on here or PM me. Thanks!

Except make sure rake isn't higher than normal. For example, ipoker rakes 7.5% at plo10.

Hi,

I'm going to give PLO a shot, some background info on me...

I used to play STTs on Full Tilt, was an Iron Man for a while and primarily played $12 turbo and $11 regular SNGs, I built up a BR from $11 to over $2000.

My strong points are...
  • Seem to be relentlessly motivated to start winning some money at PLO.
  • I feel I have better than average tilt control, I hardly even tilted money off playing STTs.
  • I have excellent BR/money management skills, have never played under-rolled ever coz I'm a complete nit (apart from when I had $11, I was playing $1 90 mans).
  • I love studying poker.
  • I love maths.

What I've done so far...
  • Studied Hwang's first book Google it! - have read it a few times and have taken notes.
  • Joined DeucesCracked and watched a few Omaha vids.
  • Played less than I should have, have only played on PokerStars.

What I want to ask is...
  • What's the best site to play at to get either good rakeback or work off a bonus for a micro-limit player?
  • Should I deposit $250 and play PLO5 or $500 and play PLO10? Please bear in mind that I'm a complete beginner with very little practical experience, but knows a lot of basic theory that should get me by. I'll also continue studying as much as possible while playing. Also I would drop down to PLO5/PLO2 if I became under-rolled.

MT,

My suggestions:

The rake at micro is so huge, about 20-40 bb/100 hands so a good RB deal is a must. I suggest you to deposit for at least 50 buy in but at first do not playing at the level of your bankroll because you are not experience player. Try PLO2 for about 500-2000 hands and if you feel it too easy, go up. Repeat till you reached the level of 50 buy in (PL010 ---> bankroll $500). At this level, you have to follow bankroll management (i.e. go up if your bankroll enough)

Good luck.

If you are a bankroll nit you should have more than 50 buyins

it's quite easy = if you are a losing player, no bankroll will be enough. if you are a winning player, 50bi should be enough at plo10 unless you get really unlucky.

i would play as high as you possibly can since the rake is atricious and the skill difference between stakes at micros is not that large in my experience.

Thanks guys, I've just decided to play PLO2 at Stars and concentrate on learning to play rather than giving a **** about a few extra cents payed in rake.

I'll invest some more money and work off some bonuses when I feel confident in my game, after say 10,000 hands or so at PLO2/PLO5.

At this point I think that the money lost or paid in extra rake is inconsequential, especially if I'm going to be playing higher stakes when I register at other sites for the bonus and can work off more of the bonus in the 30/60 days or whatever they give you.

Last edited by MTMAK47; 01-19-2012 at 06:42 PM. Reason: I like the way I can spell inconsequential with no problem, but spell paid, payed. haha

What are realistic win rates on Stars these days? I'm mainly asking about stakes form 5PLO to 100PLO. Has anyone moved up through each level? If so how long/how many hands did it take you?

Thanks

So just how close to the nuts do you like to play for when getting it allin? It seems like quite often I am always drawing dead vs better nut hands, 8 high flush vs nut flush, bottom set, flush on a paired board etc etc.

It depends on your opponent's get-it-in range

I'd start with not getting it in with 8 high flushes and bottom sets, but that's just me.

Start posting some hands if you wanna learn

I've started learning PLO for real this year. Down about 20BI at PLO10 on Stars now playing 4 tables. I decided that I should probably move down to 2 tables and perhaps also PLO5 until I feel comfortable. All the PLO5 tables on Stars are deep tables though so I would be buying in for about as much as at PLO10 and I'm not sure that's a good idea. Is it a bad idea to buy in for 100bb's at a deep table? I know to always buy in full but does this apply to deep tables as well? Another option is to play PLO€4 at Entraction with a 50% rakeback deal. I have about $400 in my roll right now and about $400 still locked at FTP that I'm not sure that I'll ever get to see.
