Search function is your friend

Ace, Start PLO as high as you can, I'd say start at PLO10 with the 300 unless going busto would be devastating for you. Going busto is nothing to be ashamed of.

Preflop you can try to put him on a vague range given what you know. You can assume he's not opening 2345 UTG if he's a solid reg. If he 3bets, his hand will usually be high card heavy or well connected unless he 3bets a ton.

Postflop is much easier. You just go with elimination based on what you know of the player. Some players call a bet with any piece of the flop, some only with nutted draws or 2pair+. What's harder is finding out how often which turn/river cards hit his range, but with experience it becomes easier.

Thanks for input.
So if we can not put villain on range, why do we care about the HUD? I'm testing the water at PLO2-PLO10 and it seems everybody playing VSIP/PFR between 30/15 - 70/10. Pretty much all Omaha HUD is useless to me. I do not understand how to interpret the stats.

After playing ~1k hands PLo my 1st impressions are:

1. 3bet light is useless and I don't know for sure what kind of hands to 3bet for value. So I decided not to 3bet at all.
2. cbet flop is useless. I feel this is my main leak. I only cbet strong hands on the flop because I have the feeling that people call too much on the flop (Beside, its rare to see HU flop).
3. AA** is strong, but much less than NLHE.
4. HUD is useless. The only useful stats for me is WTSD (lol. but I'm not kidding).
5. position, position, position.
6. Do not steal because the blind(s) will call you. Beside there is rarely attempt to steal.
7. Minimize bluff! I feel that the best spot for bluff is on the river but it's too expensive. So I decided not to bluff.
8. PLO is 1000x more fun+challenging than NLHE

Any comments to my points above is appreciate

25PLO, bigger
Blinds bigger pots in general . Of course you get crazy 10plo deep tab bales with mass average pot size

Say someone is playing 10/9, we raise with AQK2 and he calls pre. Flop comes 22T rainbow. We cbet, he x/r us. We put him on a range of TTxx, 2xxx, and bluffs. But then we see that he is a 10/9, so he has very few naked 2xxx in his pre flop calling range, so we should never 3bet this hand for value since he is either bluffing or has us beat.
Now say the villain who called is a 80/20. He will have the same generic range of TTxx, 2xxx, and bluffs, but this time he will have a lot more hands with a 2 in them in his range including 2345ss, 2789r, etc so we can 3bet this hand for value if we want.

Basically our "ranges" look a lot more like 10 percent naked top two pair, 30 percent flush draw plus some sort of straight draw, 10 percent naked nut flush draw, 30 percent set, and 20 percent pure air. As opposed to holdem where you can say more specifically 10 percent AK, 30 percent KQ, 5 percent 44, 5 percent TT, 5 percent KT, and 50 percent pure air.

hi guys - just found this thread. 2012 im gonna learn PLO, mostly because holdem bores me a bit and I dont have motivation to get better.

I have a couple of questions:

1) I have read that micro plo is not beatable. Is this true - I am uk based so can play anywhere - is rakeback a must have?

2) Can someone talk me through a HUD

many thanks,

Stu.

How many tables do the huge multi-tablers play? What's the common number of tables for most profesisonal grinders?

1) its not true, it is definetly beatable, a good rakeback deal will definetly help you though

2) not sure what you mean

Hi fellas, good thread!

I have a simple question regarding BRM. I'm planning to start grinding PLO 10 on stars, so I have a question regarding this: How many BIs do I need for this level playing 4-8 tables? Any other tips for a new player? thx in advance!

Very minimum 40, feel free to have nittier BRM. Having nitty BRM will save you a headache and a depression later on when variance joins the party. Once you feel comfortable and well rolled, set aside an amount you won't feel bad losing and take a shot to juicy games one level higher

Question every decision you're making and why it should be good/bad. Read and post alot here, get involved and think about everyone's opinion on a hand and why it could be a reasonable play or not. Don't fall into the trap of being formulaic

What are good hands to 3bet the button/IP vs a fishy/looser player 100bb-120bb deep besides premium-ish hands?

Trashy double suited stuff like QJ97ds, K875ds, 5533ss, 3457ds and JT75ds are usually better played as 3bets in that situation since they tend to suck multiway but are playable.

The decision to get frisky with 3bets depends more on the player and the blinds, however

If you wanna play a pot HU vs the fish IP, you can 3bet most of your range pretty comfortably. I'd prob still be flatting hands that flop really poorly, like KK/QQ/JJxx, but it's more about exploiting spewy/passive villains than your actual hand. In these spots, it's important to go for the delayed c-bet often to play potcontrol, otherwise you're setting yourself up for too many difficult turns with a ton of money in the pot.

What stats do you guys show on your HUD? I've been using only VPIP/PFR/hands since I started because I didn't want to clutter the screen with stuff that I might misinterpret. I feel like it's time to add some more stats now.

Also, is it recommended to group players together by changing the note color to match their tendencies and if so; what system do you use?

yellow- weaktight
lightblue - loose passive
dark blue - loose aggressive (bad)
orange - tight-aggressive
red - loose aggressive (good)

I think i'll just exchange a few pms about hands and take it from there when I have free time. Free feel to pm me if you want to discuss anythign. Currently playing 4nl in £s which is around the equivalent of $10nl

Im not sure if this is the right place, but i hope you can give me some good answers guys

I started to play plo 3 month ago at plo2 with a new bankroll after I had my roll on ftp...well thats another story.
So I play like 15k hands/month at plo2 atm but with a winrate of 15bb/100 and I will be playing plo5 in a month or a few weeks. I calculated the RB for stars and it sucks, its like 8%.
I really like stars becasue of the software and I feel very secure, but the new rake system is pretty bad for me because I play nitty at the lower stakes.

So should I move to another site? Which site has good rb and a plo player pool which is ok up to plo25.

I would also like to join a study group to be prepared for the higher plo limits bacause i havent played that much plo and I ued to play holdem alot.

30bb stacks as this is the minimum at stars. what kind of hands are you limp repotting, only AA and at least ss rundowns like JT97, 789T? what about KK?
any advice would be great. No time wasters please...

And also if its folded to you in mid-late pos are you opening(how much) or still limping with intention of being able to repot nearly 50%-60% of ur stack

limp/3betting with 30bb should be done for value only, as you'll have virtually no FE. QJT9ss is prob the bottom of my range for that, but it really comes down to adjusting to villain's range. That said, I never play below 100bb in ring games. Do yourself a favor and learn 100bb+ from the start, it's the best way to get value from the fish.

Thoughts on training videos? I have memberships to DC and DragTheBar and wondering what you guys think about them in general.

I'm currently reading slowhabit's "transitioning from NLHE to PLO", along with becoming active in this forum and catching up on a lot of old threads, but are the videos a good supplemental tool? Any particular videos or series that anyone found especially helpful?
