I would like to start playing PLO and develop my game.
I found some nice articles for newbies so I plan to start with that.

Concerning games, I plan to start on Stars with 2PLO.
Is that a good choice? They have a lot of traffic so I can play whenever I want to. Plus, I don't have enough money or skills to play higher than 2PLO.

Can you give me some ežgeneral advices.... where to play, which roll is enough for 2plo etc.
thnx

Hello, What do we think of this hand?

http://weaktight.com/4354086

Maybe check call flop to keep small, or do I have enough equity to go with it?

Also note the person who inflates the pot on the flop is drawing almost dead and only picks up outs on turn (when he inflates it again)

Hi there,

can someone tell me is it better to start with 2plo on stars or on ipoker?

Game plan for PLO 5-10? I feel like there's no point to try to read hands, so many 60+ VPIP players they can have any two pair or straight in any hand with so many random combinations.

What should our VPIP be in these super loose 6max games 15-20?

At 2 the player pools will both be equally bad so that doesnt matter. Rakeback won't matter at so small stakes and you won't be staying there long, but rakeback is a big issue at stars once you start moving up. Once I have sorted out some ID with iPoker site I can compare the traffic for you.

RB is extremely important at the micros, iPoker flat 60% deal, ainec. You're paying, what, 25bb/100 in rake at PLO2?

Am sb/bb VPIP of 19/18 for a 30k sample and am looking to tighten up

From the sb/bb weak kings is costing me a lot, so am going to drop them from my sb range, 7654ss type hands are costing a lot too.

In the bb my big losses are coming from limped pots. Am playing 25PLO and there’s a fair bit of open limping otb. So its easy to get involved in a hand oop with a high spr.

Often people acknowledge they have to tighten up out of the blinds but hit the tables again and end up playing the same hands because their intention to tighten up hasn’t manifested itself in making a decision before playing again to drop certain hand types from their range.

What kind of hand types are costing you most oob and what hand types have you dropped out of your blind range to improve your loss rate oob?

Have searched SSPLO and haven’t seen a great deal on what hand types people’s blind ranges are constructed of.

Thoughts or advice appreciated

bad KK is playable in multiway pots trying to bink set over set, etc. 7654ss I usually fold multiways, it just doesn't play well OOP. HU I prefer 3betting instead of flatting if u got the stomach for it

As a rule of thumb, play nutty hands, it's hard to get free cards or play pot control from the blinds.

Think I'll actually merge this with the noob-thread.

Yeah this is by far the main factor, but the only downside with Ipoker could be the traffic early hours in the morning central european time. I am thinking it could at least make table selection hard especially at that time for 25-50PLO where you most need to. Will be set up with Ipoker room soon so can confirm when I'm next up at that time playing.

How does std dev and wr in PLO FR, 6-Max, HU, compare to NLHE?
I'm asking this because I see a lot of "sick" graphs. Also some "names" have low or negative wr in plo...

The reason I'm asking is because I don't know anything about plo. I want to learn it and play it, but if it has too much variance I'd rather learn nlhu first.
Btw, I'm not a rigtard or a hater or anything like that. Thanks in advance.

well, PLO has a higher std deviation simply due to the preflop equities running so close. This leads to stack-offs with marginal edges and board runouts playing a much bigger role.

Obv, vs a passive, spewy fish this is a non-issue. PLO heavily rewards good hand-readers and technical skills such as stack-off math, cause it's much more difficult for a fish to realize his mistakes in this game.

This is the place, PLO tourney's just aren't that popular since the game is much better suited for cash. Short stacks + small preflop edges = high variance. Feel free to post MTT hands, I'm sure you'll get answers.

From the looks of it Ipoker looks playable if you can have money in all three currencies and only/almost only play at peak times. Even then there won't be much opportunity to table select . Perhaps worth it at the micros still though. I'm undecided so far.

What is your strategy from the BB vs a TAG reg who opens button 50%, cbets flop 90%, turn 70%, and river 50%?

Like while the post flop stats seem a bit unbalanced to me, is it the case that given his opening range of only 50% his the equity he js barrelling with isn't usually that bad in PLO?

I have just been flatting a somewhat tighter range pre, and then calling down lighter, but don't think this can be the optimal strategy since I'm allowing the opener to set the price to see turn and river cards.

I feel like widening 3bet range and / or CR'ing later streets with a less nutty range should be more profitable, but then building big pots oop w marginal holdings seems to often be a big mistake.

Play tight from the blinds. If he folds to your agression easily post then 3bet wider.

Really depends on the stds at ur level, but 2-4 is pretty std for regs. Optimal aggression increases as u move up in stakes, obv.

rake is 20bb+ so idk 10bb/100 seems solid since you have to beat others for 30bb+

Hey all, another hold em player journeying to the promised land of the omaha tables. Anyway, what are some good resources for learning this game? I'm willing to subscribe if necessary but free stuff is more than welcome as well. I will be generous and say I was a 50nl hold em player .

Cheers.

First, plow through this thread and the guide-sticky, lots of good advice already posted. Once u've read a book or watched a series on starting hands/std postflop play, start grinding.

Remember, play low enough and prepare for monster swings.
