Basically I want to learn to get better at live PLO. When I play I usually just play for fun and try to play a solid game.

I know about things like danglers and run down hands.

I'm going to start with a very simple question.

If you are 100 BB effective in a live game what is your strategy with AA rag rag? In NL obviously we want to shovel as much money in pre as possible. Is AA rag rag even possibly a fold pre against certain player's 3-betting ranges, which would only be AAxx?

I guess I'll start reading Hwang's book.

Appreciate any thoughts and responses.

Read "Plo from scratch" also, there is a link here on the forum. It will give you the answer. If you can get so much of your stack in pre that you have left less than a pot sized bet less on the flop, you can raise all AAxx hands pre. I don't think you ever should fold even if you know your opponent only has AAxx after 3bet. This doesn't happen so often tho if you also have AA. I'm also a newbie so I might be wrong

Personally would watch as much free content from Jnandez as possible. In plo never fold AA pre, regardless of side cards. If you can set up an SPR 2 by the flop you're good to get in AA on almost any board (remember almost, always consider action).

Regarding 3betting or just flatting depends on side cards, position and stack depths. Example if you're deep and have AA24 rainbow in bb after btn opens you're fine to just flat and not 3bet. If, however, you have good side cards like KJ or double suited AA you want to start building a pot regardless of position. Depending on game and player types you can def start setting up some traps to squeeze heavy opponents on btn.

A large portion of plo is clean ranges. If you're serious about getting better jnandez mastermind is a great tool. Nutraisin on twitch (he plays micro but very well) is good to watch and learn from as well.

I play 5-card. With "bad aces" (like unsuited or single-suited with bad side cards) I prefer to limp and setmine or l/rr GII pre. Worst possible scenario with AA is that you 3! small, give away your hand, and whiff the flop multiway and are paralyzed. That's why I prefer AA in squeeze spots either l/rr or 3! from a later position facing a raise and several callers where you can get most if not all of your stack in pre and hopefully get HU or take it down.

I am going to get Jnandez' masterclass soon I think.

Any strangler in your hand in those games is alarming but generally playable and more so in preflop passive games. If you don't know what to do with the AA-rags in those games, maybe you should fold it; it doesn't play well in those games.

Don't fold AA preflop.

If possible, you want to reduce the SPR as much as you can. At some point, it's just really hard to make a mistake on the flop with AA and a low SPR.

If you don't expect you can get the SPR down (either due to deep stacks or whatever), you can play your less "kitted out" aces slower and basically just set-mine with them.

The lowest limits of live PLO is such a weird beast. People will have no idea sit with 500bb and be completely transparent with their bets, and have no strategies about freerolls or board changes etc. Even the "good regs" are mostly bad, they just have enough of a clue to stack the people with no idea.

Yes, read Hwang. Unlike online you'll often be playing 7-9 handed and don't be shocked if 4+ people call a raise. Understanding of "Big play" is essential.

Stop. Go back to your wallet and grab another 100bb, at least. There's probably only one table running, so you can't just sit out as soon as you get deep and go to another table ... so start out deep and have a default strategy that doesn't do stupid things like just mash pot when you hit the flop (which is mostly fine with an SPR of 1, but just spew at SPR 10).

Yes you can wait for any AA and limp/3bet/AI-flop (which is somewhat easy to learn to do correctly), but so what? You don't win real money at live PLO by pushing 55-60% equities in 80-200bb pots, you win by having 80%+ equity in 500bb pots. All of the players bad strategy/understanding is exaggerated the deeper you get.

If you can get 25% of your stack in pre or more, you're not going to be making a mistake getting your money in postflop. So, I'm trying to set up a situation that allows me to do this, whether it be limp-reraising from EP or 3betting when I'm facing a raise.

With rag aces and no opportunity to create a low SPR pot, your hand becomes a setmine. Play accordingly, possibly by limping or just calling and seeing a flop.
