It was a single raise preflop and i was in the bb. it was 5 way flop and i flopped middle set. i checked and one player bet and another player re raise pot. we were about 250bb deep and i thought he might have top set or a combo draw which i am super behind so i folded on the flop. was the fold right or i am just result oriented? should i always fold middle set on that spot? i play with no HUD and i just joined the table so no reads on these players.

GII on the flop. Bottom set is a fold. Board is extremely wet.

Might as well fold pre if you are going to pass after making middle set.

Good fold, getting it in there vs topset is a desaster and against combodraws u are flippng. You need a flushdraw or an openender as backup to your middleset to stack off here 5way preflop.

You can consider folding pre. Your suits are dominated 5way so often, even though you get great odds.

This reminds me of a point Jeff Hwang made in his first book. He said 77 is the lowest pair that can flop top set without there being a straight possible on board. And that low pairs need something to go with it, the A for nut flush draw being the best.

Preflop is like choosing what clothes you choose to wear that day.
