How Often Should You Raise Your Button How Often Should You Raise Your Button

I know in lower stakes if you going to play you should be raising, but even microstakes players will catch on to you raising your button.

For example I had the hand A 10 5 9

I am pretty sure this is a raise with players limping. But how often should I be raising and limping the button?
Or is just dependent on the table dynamics?

Thanks.

My RFI on the button is ~47%.

I RFI that combo from the HJ but I'm ambivalent about raising it on the button after two+ limpers. It has a nut suit (good for mw) but poor connection. Rake impacts passive preflop actions most significantly. If they spew a lot post and you're not going to get caught up pumping mw pots with non-nut draws, then sure limp behind limpers. No rake, sure limp it. One limper and reasonably tight blinds, raise it on the button.

You should raise whenever you get a good hand to raise with.

Ah K.I.S.S method gotcha.

I am sure when you play higher stakes it is different.

I feel like trying to get overly generalised questions will lead to overly reductive bad habits, whereas if you approach it more on a case by case basis (but while also understanding how it fits in an overall strategy) you will learn more and have a more retoolable and adaptable strategy.

If you think of it in terms of why a hand fits into your strategy a certain way, you are more able to adapt when conditions change, know how close or far away from certain adaptations, and not always be at mercy of hitting a certain frequency.

I know I talk about this all the time, but I think executable strategies and approaches with longevity and adaptability is way more important than getting something that works "best" right now, and is key to success long run.

To answer your OP, don't open limp except bvb (and even then best to just play RFI only), and your hand I would raise vs limps sometimes too (player/rake dependent).

Thanks for the responses. I guess InkyPoker. I should have been just specific with this hand. How often should I limp, raise, or fold this. I don't have any software to give me those numbers. So I went with raise.

Do not mix. You rarely need to mix preflop in PLO, and at your level you should not complicate your strategy.

You would adjust this based on conditions (the limpers, stacks, etc). This is based on conditions, not some arbitrary frequency. You either raise 100% or fold 100%. Generally you want to avoid overlimping, especially at this rake, you're better off never doing so.

You should downgrade hand for 3 of a suit. This hand does best as an overlimp, or in higher-rake environment maybe a fold.

Raise is very marginal but feasible against players who limp too much junk.
