How did you memorize wrap combinations and outs? How did you memorize wrap combinations and outs?

I know a lot of it now is just burned into your memory from experience and repetition, but when you first learned wrap combinations and the outs that each of those contained, what technique/strategy did you use to memorize them?

For example, holding 10-9-6-5 on a flop of 8-7-2 is 20 outs, and that can easily be counted and verified (3 outs for each of the cards you are holding = 12; 8 outs for the 4 Jacks and 4 fours; 8+12 = 20). However, in order to learn this faster; did you develop a memory bank or strategy? Just curious; thanks.

When I moved from Holdem to PLO, I already had played enough hands to be able to quickly count my outs. I still quickly count them, I wouldn't say I can look at a board and instantly know my outs, I can just count them really quickly and quite easily now after a lot of hands.

If you're looking for instant out recognition, make hand scenarios that are common on flash cards or something and just quiz yourself. Its like multiplication tables, repetition and practice and you can do it almost instantly.
