As far as i know AAJ10 double suited is the best starting hand in omaha, is this correct?

another question i have is: what is the hand with the highest playability (i dont think there is any solver-verified answer)? KQJ10ds, J1098 ds? It has to be some kind of K-J high double suited rundown right? if the rundown starts at A or K-high then there is the issue of implied removal, where we know that many of the broadway cards are removed because they are in playable hands

if i had to guess it would be a J high double suited rundown since more of our outs are live, but if we dont consider outs i guess it would be an A or K high rundown?

I think AAKK$ds is the best hand.

Defined “highest playability”. I have no idea but I’d pick AAJT$ds.

Highest equity is _usually_ the current nuts on any board. But you're never too far off by having top set.

Those things also do quite well as far as playability is concerned: try to draw to the nuts, then you dont have to worry about bad turns or rivers.

ive been playing omaha for a long time but i never asked myself this question, and i think a lot of us probably assume its AAKK

the reason i said AAJ10 is because a coach said this to me a while ago. AAKK is powerful but its equity is too concentrated, and we are basically handicapped by having two overpairs which hope to draw to a set or NF

playability is basically the ability of a hand to maintain/realize its equity across multiple streets, its possible that AAJ10 does have the highest playability but I would have thought it was some kind of high rundown

You'll get AAKKds once every 45000 hands. AAJTds twice over the same period.

You could open fold it every time and the effect on your results would be barely detectable.

The best starting hand is the best starting hand because it has the most equity by the river over any random hand on any random board. Thus, AAKKds has the most playability.

but what if your opponents aren't playing random hands?

KKQQds is in the subset of "any random hand", as is any other hand you can possibly think of.

AAJTds has more value if your opponents are willing to put in too much action with the non-nut flushes. Against some lineups, AAKKds has more value.

As a practical matter, this is about as useful of a question as whether you prefer two red aces or two black aces in hold em.

It’s an interesting question, and it gives some frame of reference for the ceiling of EV/playability

I think jnandex says in one vid that AAJT is the best, it could very well be AAKK

I’d much rather AATJds than AAKK. Makes it easier for us to get it in pre v KKxx

I often play in games where good KKxx hands are not preflop GII hands for almost all players.

I play in games where people are getting in bad KKxx preflop most of the time.

I wish I coul dplay in games where players are capable of folding KKxx. I love games where people play tight-reasonable ranges. IMO Omaha is most fun when players are tight, pots are HU/3H, and players actually THINK. Omaha is ruined by limp-callers

I don't care if it is loose or tight, passive or aggressive, I just like games with predictable opponents. (Well, maybe not games that are too nitty.)

I sometimes do a lot of limp-calling to prevent aggressive players from getting it HU/3H. It takes them out of their comfort zone and they sometimes get frustrated.

At some point I think we have to find a balance between enjoyment&EV, they are more related than people think IMO

I guess I’m also just tired ofthe limp call dynamic
