1/3 PLO live with 10% rake capped at $10 will be my game of poker that i will play on a saturday night/sunday morning if i make it that far. the rest of the week i will play play money PLO on stars after work and also study.

I will buy-in for $100 at 1/3 which is the min buy-in. if i lose 3 buy-ins i will quit. if i win i keep going until the game breaks up.

How many buy-in downswing could you go on if your a breakeven or slight winner in this game? if its even possible to be a winner.

the rake is high but at the moment its my only option. home games might be worth looking into but i actually need to be there to find the games which will be soon.

100 or more buyins. But you shouldnt bother to much with downswinngs.

I dont know how play money games are but in your shoes id rather play 1c/2c games online. I suppose play money games are horrible to train because player tendencies are alot different

Hey man.

I agree with cnrd, playing real money online might be a good idea. Idk where you live, but there are great spots for Omaha online even for American players and they might be a better option than a single live game with heavy rake + low volume. Even if your a strong player variance can be extreme if your playing live a couple times a week and only seeing a little volume

Also If you can’t find any good games then making your own game might be a good option. I have done it, its easy. Just build it, make a group chat and they will come.

IMO in poker it is way better to abstain from bad spots, and wait for, search out, or create better opportunities. The poker ecosystem will present you with all kinds of spots, being a great player involves picking the right ones to invest ur time/$

As far as the roll, more is better. 100 is ideal min-threshold, as aforementioned, but you can probably get away with less. This is why online is a great way to build a live roll, and I would def recfomeb giving online a try.
