1/2 PLO5. $5 bring-in. V is tough reg, 3! his decent AA, sometimes mixes in a light 3! too. Hero isos AdKcKdTs9s in BB to $30 over a few limps and V in straddle 3! to $105, folds to hero $200 eff.

He's kinda been beating me a lot lately, would also appreciate some tips on adjusting to this V (other than simply leaving the table). I do seat change sometimes so I am not to his right. I consider myself one of the best PLO5 players in the room, so it sorta is an ego trip to encounter some tough competition.

You are 40% vs AA and flipping with an 8% range. Why are the effective stacks so short? You need about 43% to stack off so I just go with it.

As far as ego I don’t think there is a place for it in poker. I am a 5-10 Omaha reg but when the game isn’t running and the 3-5 NLHE is all regs I have no problem grinding 2-3 NL. I also recognize that there are better players than me at a lot of tables I’m at. Underestimating opponents or overestimating your skill can cause unnecessary mistakes

Use solid fundamentals against tough players. Play balanced defense until you find specific leaks to exploit.

This particular hand is close. I try to avoid pocket pairs and kings when I'm 4b "not AA" oop in plo4 but AKKxds can be reasonable. This hand could be part of a good oop 4b range in plo5, generally, but idk. 4b enough and with a good mix will be vital for combating tough players.

But then we are so short that the alternative of calling and playing SPR 1 oop isn't great either. Tough player should have his own mix of AA and not AA and won't magically hit all flops. But so hard to know.

On balance I probably lean slightly call, confident that there's plenty of not AA left to 4bet even passing on this. Shrug.

This short I'd default to fold or raise with pairs, vs. tough villain and with AKK I'd just 4bet.

Same strat. as 4 card, and my assumption is that pairs are worse in 5 card.

Also flop SPR will be 0.5? Not sure how good call is with any hand there. Esp. if you can run it twice.
