Hero (BTN): 130.2 BB
SB: 158.82 BB
BB: 100.82 BB
UTG: 83.6 BB
MP: 363.8 BB
Villain (CO): 166.48 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 5 7 8 9

fold, fold, Villain raises to 3.5 BB, Hero calls 3.5 BB, SB calls 3 BB, fold

Flop: (11.5 BB, 3 players) 5 J 2
SB checks, Villain checks, Hero bets 5.46 BB, fold, Villain calls 5.46 BB

Turn: (22.42 BB, 2 players) 4
Villain checks, Hero bets 12 BB, Villain raises to 57.3 BB, BTN calls 45.3 BB

River: (137.02 BB, 2 players) 7
Villain bets 100.22 BB and is all-in

First hand with Villain, Zoom 50 PLO.

As played, what do we do on the river?

In hindsight, turn is a fold I think, is this a reasonable range? Can we narrow it down?

I think I would check turn (easy to say now lol), but honestly I think a 1/2 pot bet won't really accomplish too much for you. if you want to fold out his weaker hands you'd have to bet bigger then that.

as played, I would fold turn, he shouldn't really have a straight too often, more likely some kind of 2pair + FD, set or something, you're not doing well against that.

Fold river, I don't think villain has that many bluffs here, at least not enough to call

You can't even beat a lot of hands in the bottom of his range like aj2 with a redraw or maybe you could somehow call to chop very rarely if he jammed something like aa75

On this board texture I don't think a villain should be getting very far out of line for the cr (and with 100bb left behind)

3b pre 100%. Weird choice for bet size ott, almost makes me want to call the river now... Would fold vs turn raise.

BTN Vs Co this is standard 3bet agree. You don't want 4way pot with

8 and 9 high flushdraws. As played I would check back flop, check back turn

and fold river.

I think here is relevant what is villain range. If I have to guess aa3 most likely. Our range can be anything except straight,

cause not sure anybody bets turn half pot on that board with straight. It is possible tho that your bet seemed week

and villain bluff c/raised you.

Also, is villain betting this river with 100% of his range?

Prefer betting flop with a larger sizing.

Either call turn call river, or fold both. The latter is better.

Ok, so I'm the Villain, not the hero, and the Villain ended up calling and winning the pot. So I was wondering if I should bet the river or give up.

BTN wins 260.9 BB

I could've probably played it differently. But my question is, do we bet this river 100%? I expect him to call with only 678x (maybe some 68xx with diamonds and spades, but I have the 6 of spade), because I expect him to raise every other made hand on the turn.

Is 68xx a small enough portion of his range that we can bet this river profitably? We're betting 64bbs to win 137bbs. In other words we need to win somewhere around 47%, right?

Honestly think you played it fine, though just calling turn is fine as well.

You pretty much have to bet river. You got called here, but I think plenty of players will fold garbage 2pair and maybe even sets. If you have a specific read checking is fine though, your hand does have a little showdown value.
