Live 5/5

Hero with KJT7ddcc in BB, UTG straddle to 10

MP1 open to 35, SB call
I 3b to 160, only MP1 calls

Flop (400): Qh 8c 4h
Hero? 630 behind

I thought this flop texture seems like a good Cbet given that it’s pretty disconnected and shouldn’t hit a 3b calling range too hard? On the other hand, flop SPR is barely >1, so if I Cbet 150-175, he may just shove with any pair given his 35% equity vs my perceived range of AAxx. Also, this hand should flop better than BDSD/BDFD/no pair a decent % of the time, so is check/give up a better choice?

Flat pre, check fold flop.

We have <30% against a 20-25% range OTF and little fold equity as SPR is so low.

Flat pre. You’re bloating the pot OOP with a good but not great hand. You’re never taking it down in a live game and often you end up 3-way to flop with a 1:1 SPR. At this stack depth I think you can 3-bet pretty tight and just see a flop with a nice connected hand.

As played against an unknown I think flop is a check fold. You really whiffed here, and any bet is basically committing you to the pot. A lot of Vs will call with one pair here plus anything (like gutter or back doors) thinking they have odds against your AA. you’re definitely getting called by 2 pair+, heart draws, JT9, 567 and any other wraps.

Reads or dynamics are important here too. Some Vs this is a definite c bet.

easy xfold on flop.

Smaller cbet sizes are somewhat interesting but still might be optimistic.

It probably would be ok to never 3bet from the blinds unless you would be pot-committed to GII on any flop.

I would only 3bet this kind of hand if it's likely to go heads up, and even then I would do it with a minimum of an 8 as the low card.

Going multiway, as is very likely here, you must have more nut potential.

As played, with very thin equity on a board which is not great for your range, nor your hand, I would x/fold the flop.

But since people don't fold in general, when it's going multiway the only hands that will make a profit making a huge pot pre (spr <2) are AA and AKK.

The other hands are only in there to make you balanced against somebody who realises they should fold KK to a 3bet.
