$1/3 PLO. I bought in for the minimum for various reasons and start with $86. Two limps, and I limp CO with AJT3. Button raises to $16. He had just sat down at the table and raised at limpers 2 hands before. SB calls, BB folds, fold, call, and I call. Not crazy about limp/calling in general as is common in this game, but it seemed best here.

Flop comes 998. Check, check. I have exactly a pot sized bet left. Should I shove or check? Obviously, could be drawing dead, but have good equity otherwise and maybe FE.

i dont think there is any reasonable reason to play PLO w 28bb unless you are playing for fun and dont have more in your pocket

As for playing short, I am not experienced in live PLO, but it seems soft. Buying and rebuying for $100 reduces possible losses. I wind up with a medium stack anyway. Also, I play MTTs and am comfortable playing short stacks. There are advantages in being able to 3-bet and mostly gii with AAxx. Even this hand is easier to play than if I were deep.

I shoved and SB called with 88, so I wasn't drawing dead, but it was probably the best play.

Iso raise pre, don't limp this in co. Ahead of limping range and plays well enough post esp short stacked.

Post flop spr1 getting it in is 100% fine w/ combo draw.

do whatever you think its best

When you double up or have 100bb+ you will leave a good table? if you only play short you will be really uncomfortable playing w a normal stack.

You rarely get AAxx and dont always have a chance to 3b/4b. Even when you do gii you will most often be 60/40 in HU, and it will very often be 3 or 4way where your AA wont do that good
combining that with a huge rake at those stakes seems like it would be very difficult for a shortstacker to make anything more then 1-3bb/hour in the long run

and playing short you wont learn the game

just seems like a waste of time tbh

You can't really short stack live, because you can't close the table and open another one. At best, you could play something else for an hour. It wouldn't look good doing that and buying in for the minimum at the same table, as there may be one table or must move. You are going to have a standard stack anyway (maybe after rebuying) pretty soon the way these games are. It may not be optimal, but it limits possible losses when I am not experienced with the game.

I'd fold pre. You really only have a 3 card hand.

That 3 is ugly. Fold pre. Don't chase flush or straight draws on paired boards.

At 100bb, your hand is pretty good and fine for a raise first in from MP onwards, and I would flat a raise in position.

Limping and overlimping in live PLO is rake dependent.

Also playing short is fine, but limping and especially limpcalling are not options available to you, and you have to fold this hand and wait 10 minutes for your opponents to tank 30 seconds every decision before folding or checking it down or excitedly potting when they have the nuts, then you can get another hand to fold. You get to play maybe 2/3 hands an hour as a shortstack at a FR table.
