main villain in this hand is a good LAG but bordering on maniac / spew at times. this is my first time playing with him but i have noticed him changing gears and reading specific situations in way that many run of the mill LAGs do not. but he also has made some pretty ambitious bluffs or c-bets in position with pure air against a big field.
i have chatted with V a little bit, he is probably here swapping action as he runs his own game, i think he regards me as pretty solid / not nitty. he has griped about a couple other guys at the table who don't play any hands.
5/5 and i am in the SB with AA92 rainbow
couple limps to V who raises to 25 in the CO, i decide to flat with my terrible aces, four other callers. V has around 2000 and i cover.
flop Q73 with two diamonds. i have the ace of diamonds.
checks to V who bets 150, i decide to get sticky with the nut blocker and call, everyone else folds
turn is a black 7 and i pick up a strong live read that V does not like this card, i check, he bets 175 and i call now thinking i usually have the best hand.
river is a black 3, i check, V bets 700

Which cards were the diamonds? We want him to be able to have Qd here I think.
Don't think you can take this line and fold on that river.
9 and 2 block mid and low wraps a little, I'd be happier without Ad tbh.
Edit - if you really think he hates the turn you could xr and lead river I guess.

Definitely folding flop with a field behind us and uncertainty if our dry ace will work vs a maniac.

Frank says folding pre and yeah its probably technically correct. I wouldnt fold though because ive just won too much money set mining with AA when deep.
Agree folding the flop. He bet pot! Calling with Ad is real ambitious: you are essentially drawing to a bluff.
Turn things get interesting because you now have a live read. Strong one even!
So on the river, we have:
- a correct live read, he is unimproved and you call/win
- a correct live read (on turn), but he improves on 3 and you call/lose
- an incorrect live read, you were not good on the turn and you call/lose
I'm gonna back you in here and assume your read was good (you said strong tell) so now it's a question of whether he has the ability to try bluff you off a Q type hand or if he has the ability to go for that value with a 3.
I think it does not make sense for him to show up with a bluff here - it's difficult to name a combo that makes sense (456 with diamonds?). Therefor, I think he got there on the river. A Q3 hand perhaps, maybe KKQ3 or a AQ3?
